Battlefield Press presents its ENnie Award 2013 winning setting now for the Savage Worlds game engine.

It is 2030. The Gilman-Hawking drive has given us access to the stars. But we are not alone.

They're out there: aliens, gods and monsters. They're also down here. The Miskatonic Antarctic Expedition found the elder ones' city in 1931. The mi-go crashed in Roswell in 1947.

In 1958, as quietly as possible, not knowing what we were doing, we bent occult powers to our hands and took the step to Mars. The third time, the men who made that step could not step back. We fled back into our cave for a while.

But rocketry, and the Soviets, brought us back out soon enough. Competition took us to the moon. Uneasy teamwork saved the astronauts who would have died there among cyclopean, immemorial ruins.

In 1994, human scientists cracked alien technology and overcame the lightspeed barrier. They brought us the stars. They also brought us the madness that lies between them, the mind-twisting undarkness of hyperspace.

The future is here. Machine-made telepathy, augmentations, and unprecedented levels of automation have changed the face of Earth. But the science of sorcery, and our primitive understandings of what lies outside, have changed more than our minuscule planet. They've begun to let humanity out.

We walk amongst giants. Tread carefully.

This book was brought to the Savage Worlds game engine by Ian Liddle

'reading through it and so far I really like it. However, in the conversion to Savage Worlds, I would have streamlined some of the mechanics. For instance, instead of calling for a raise on a roll to get 'success,' you can simply apply a -4 penalty for the same result, but faster calculation. I'm thinking of the Hyperspatial Exposure rules (I'd actually make it -2 per level above the character's current level). Also, I'd consider using the Dynamic Backlash rules for SWADE, replacing Snake Eyes with d4+1 levels of Hyperspatial Exposure for the sorcerer and all within his Smarts inches (no special level or 2 levels of increase). Otherwise, the setting is awesome!

So is there going to be anymore Unisystem releases? I have this product and Distant Vistas in Unisystem. I cant even find that product anymore. Are you getting completely out of it?

I agree with Bruce about the hole in the head.

If you release more Eldritch Skies products in Unisystem or some form of d20, I would definitely snag them.

The publisher no longer has the rights to use Unisystem, so can't offer it for sale anymore.

The setting for this game is pretty cool. Bought it on RPGnow a long time ago. Wish I had a chance to run it, though.

Wow! I'm disappointed this has been moved from the Unisystem to Savage Worlds... I need to learn another game system like I need a hole in my head...

Savage Worlds is simple and has a vast array of genres/settings available for it. If you only want to ever learn a single mechanics system, it's a great option.

No criticism of either Savage Worlds or Eldritch Skies intended there Steve. SW does appear to be a 'Swiss Army knife' of a gaming system. The change in system caught me a little by surprise at the time. I ended up late backing the Kickstarter.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
