An Age of Terrifying Mysteries

It is a world lit by torch-fires and ruled by superstitions. It is a time before the birth of reason and before humanitys dominion over the world. This dark age is an epoch for castles, nobles, priests and wizards. Treading in the shadows of the world, consorting with demons and monsters, these magicians, holy men, philosophers and pagans wield unfathomable magic in a world veiled in mystery.

An Age of Unparalleled Magic

Before the Technocracy existed a Mythic Age when magic ruled and science was but a dream unborn. In these times mortal men and women cower amid great wars and supernatural mysteries. Only wizards walk unafraid in the revenant-haunted and wolf-infested night. Included in this supplement are all the game systems and rules necessary to build mages for the Dark Ages setting. This book assumes use of Dark Ages: Vampire. You do not need Mage: The Ascension to make use of this book.

Note: The Black & White print editions of this book are not full-bleed. Because of printing requirements there is a small white border around the edge of the pages.

Is this book hyperlinked, or is it just a scan?

When this book says it requires Dark Ages: Vampire, can you use V20 Vampire: The Dark Ages or do you specifically need Dark Ages: Vampire?

In terms of edition, this is strictly a Dark Ages book, so you need Dark Ages: Vampire (2nd edition) to run it. By the way, here at DTRPG are the Dark Ages Basic Rules for free, so you can run Mage, Fae, Werewolf and Inquisitor without buying Vampire.

Now, there are none strict official guide to pass Dark Ages Mage (DAM) to the 20th anniversary Vampire The Dark Ages actual edition. However, you can always adapt those rules to DAM by yourself so you can include Mages in your 20th Day Ages table. As far as I can understand, in DAM you have to replace or discard some abilities, use Athletics instead of Dodge and eliminate Dodge Talent, and adjust the weapon table and that's it.

The magic system is composed for a Foundation that is different for every magical fellowship, and 4 different pillars. Here in the Dark Ages, magic from mages is indeed very powerful, but is very far away from being versatile, as the fellowships in these times doesn't have an abstract open mind, but a rigid believe...See more

It specifically references Dark Ages Vampire but V20DA and DAV are very similar. There are only a few differences and you can 'choose' between them more or less if you'd like. As someone else mentioned, the DAV core rules are free on DTRPG.

If you already have V20DA I'm sure you could make it work with little to no headache.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
