To me, "old school" is evocative of more than just a style of play. There was the thrill of finding new excuses to use weirdly-shaped dice. There was the fun of rolling on random tables, even when it wasn't absolutely necessary to do so. A lighthearted game paying homage to the best and worst of 1980s-style action cop films, their formulaic plots, and their generally over-the-top cinematic silliness. Great for a pick-up game or filler between regular campaign sessions. Easy to learn, easy to play, usable for one-shots or short campaigns.
