Lords of Olympus Diceless RPG

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Portray gods and demigods -- children of Olympian Gods, Titans, or Primordials in this diceless roleplaying game of multi-dimensional mythology Fantasy. Explore new realms or the classic worlds of Earth and Mythological Greece. Visit Zeus' Olympus, Poseidon's Seas, or Hades' Underworld. Mix politics with intrigue, alliances with wars as power-struggles and vengeance drive stories. Or, go the route of lesser power with mortals and heroes.

Lords of Olympus provides a new and original game inspired by the rules of the most successful diceless RPG of all time. The goal of this book is to not only be successful and enjoyable as a game in its own right, but also maintain the interest of players seeking out and experiencing the original and greatest diceless roleplaying game.

Immersive Game-Play

  • The focus is on roleplaying and the story, fostering creativity.
  • Players bid for ability classes, so they get a say in how powerful their characters are in certain areas.
  • Relationships between characters promote intrigue and drama.
  • Characters are godly in their ability and powers for grand conflicts and escapades.
  • The scope is epic, from a single world, such as Classic Earth, to those of the characters' design; even futuristic and modern worlds can be imagined.
  • The diceless system promotes quick gameplay, since there are no tables to consult, dice to roll, or rules-lawyering.
  • Build stories around the Greek Pantheon or use the rules for your own settings.
  • Explore limitless stories of adventure: pit characters against each other or team them up to take on greater threats.

"...a gorgeous book, in a style that I don't see many RPGs using... the typography is great, too. It's a very, very readable book."

"The optional rules sidebars are just amazing... I genuinely can't recall when I last saw such a great spread of options."

"I just finished reading LoA and I LOVED IT. Greek myth was a perfect fit for the diceless system... I'm dropping all other games I'm currently running to run this for my small group."

"Probably the best diceless rules I've owned, I compare it favorably over my already existing favorites of Everway, Amber DRPG, and LoGaS mechanically, and it's definitely one of the meatiest setting supplements for a mythos, comparable to one of the better GURPS sourcebooks."

So, got the physical copy, and I'm impressed with the amount of work that went into this. Now the big question: What about OTHER pantheons? Can we see things done with the Egyptian, Japanese, and Norse pantheons, for example? I'd love to see more books for this.

We offered the open supplement license to allow people to publish other pantheons for the main rules, should they wish to do so. Since it stands on its own pretty well with the Greek pantheon, we are not currently working on other pantheons in-house, although a few other ideas are in the works.

Just map the same gods to the other pantheons, just like the ancient Greeks used to do? Athena = Neith (Egyptian) = Tanith (Punic/Berber). Apollo = Horus (Egyptian). Artemis = Bastet Hermes = Odin. Jotunn = Fomorians = Titans & Giants etc.

What do the player characters DO in the game? "Anything you want!" is not a valid answer...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
