Medieval Market

DramaScape Free Volume 06

The Medieval Market is a 24 x 30 inch, full color floorplan of a Market, with Hex, Square and No overlay.

Game Masters need quality maps for their miniatures. DramaScape™ is committed to bringing Game Masters the maps they need.

The Medieval Market has several merchant stalls each with and without a roof except the blacksmith’s temporary shop. Each stall sells different items. From northwest to northeast, there is a seafood merchant, baker, butcher, and cheese merchant. From southwest to southeast, there is a potter, a tapestry and rug merchant, another farmer selling cheese and produce, and finally a blacksmith selling tools and weapons with several wagons.

The Medieval Market makes an excellent add-on to our Arabian Market product, this Medieval Market could easily be accessible from the Poor Quarter and give a low cost alternative to the Merchant Quarter but more expensive than the less reputable “merchants” in the Black Market.

The Arabian Market adventure ideas work well here.

Also consider a character wanting to get a merchant’s license for the market. The head of the merchant’s guild challenges him to a barter haggle. The character must go to each stall and shop and procure an item without money, by bartering goods of equal value and then trade them further down the line. The task is complete when he barters the last item to the last shop in the square. Some trades may be easier than others.

For example, a character could trade for a cheese wheel in the northeast shop, then take it to the farmer and trade the cheese wheel for some vegetables. Since he already sells cheese this makes the trade easier. If successful, the character may pay the license fee and gains the right to set up a stall in the market.

The zip file includes the VTT file for use online.

Very well done; the market contains all the correct sorts of things, and the mutliple scale versions allow for appropriate detail levels as a party moves around. [...]

Simple layout, it's just 8 merchants with 4 in a row on each side of the way. If you need some detailed maps of individual market stalls, it's what you're looking for. If you want the chaos of a sprawling market to get lost in or have a chase through, [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
