Dungeons in Blue - The Master List

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Dungeons in Blue series brings classic blue dungeon maps to the virtual tabletop! These ready-to-fill maps are packed with rooms, corridors, pits, and caves; all judiciously sprinkled with tricks and traps. Every geomorph tile seamlessly connects to every other tile in the series, providing the megadungeon builder tremendous freedom and flexibility.

The Master List is a free product that includes the following items:

  • A one-third scale preview sheet of every Dungeons in Blue map tile set.
  • The latest and greatest map legend, detailing all map markup.
  • Player and GM versions of ready-to-fill, full-sized sample tiles.
  • The Dungeons in Blue FAQ.
  • A full listing of all Dungeons in Blue products (*).

(*) I make every effort to keep this index up to date with all Dungeons in Blue products, but I also try to limit updates to avoid spamming everyone with update email. The listings may not have entries or links for the newest releases.

The Master List is split into two digital archives. The Core archive contains the PDF index, map key and sample tiles. The Preview archive contains all preview images. The Preview archive is pretty big (almost 200MB), so you may want to skip it if you're on a bandwidth budget or slow connection.

All dungeon tiles are ready-to-use PNG-format files compatible with virtual tabletops such as Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds. Use them as-is, or combine them into larger dungeon maps using your favorite image-processing software.

Note that the preview image is one-third scale!

Bringing furred or feathered friends along on an adventure is a common fantasy trope. Animal Companions is an OSR-friendly advancement system for mundane creatures that gives beasts of burden and pets a little extra survivability and utility. It includes rules for acquiring companions, training them, and maintaining their loyalty plus advancement and quirk tables for nine categories of mundane beasts.

I don't think DriveThrough can handle those zip files. I tried to download both of them (on my 250 Mbit line) and they just never gets down.

Hi Mikael. Unfortunately, as a publisher, I do not have any control/access to the actual download processes. Can I suggest you contact customer support to see if they can resolve the issue you are encountering?

I did attempt to download the files myself.

First, I downloaded them individually by clicking the "download" button next to each individual file. This worked.

Second, I used the checkboxes to select all files for this product and downloaded them together with "download selected". This also worked, BUT the dialog did hang with a partially complete progress bar. If this is the behavior you experienced, you may have the files, but the user interface just isn't working properly. It may be worth a look at your download folder. The zip file produced has a name like dtrpg-date-time.zip.

I am going to raise this issue with publisher services.

Sorry I can't be of more help here.

Yeah, I guessed that, so I have reported it to support. Tried from the library as well as the links above but no success so far. I'll try tomorrow when there is less load on the servers from US.

I found out the trick, I paired the download with some other thing, and then it was able to compress the two files. Weird!

OK, that is just weird. I have not heard back from publisher support yet. I did reference this discussion so hopefully they will see your remark. Glad you got the files.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
