In an ancient world adrift in the middle of an eternal storm lies a realm of floating discs. This realm has existed longer than any recorded history and ius assumed to be the creation of a race of lost gods. Now it holds empires on the brink of war, hidden temples overgrown but centuries of neglect, savage cultures who drift into the storm, and dangerous monsters who drift out of it.
Welcome to Voidstone Chronicles
This is a game inspired by the land of "Avatar: the Last Airbender", as well as 8-bit and 16-bit "roleplaying" games found on consoles and computers in decades past. It's an attempt to capture the spirit of those games and bring their style of fun back to the table.
The game is basically designed to capture the feel of old school console games...the type where you'd chat with NPCs who'd send you on quests, and where you'd break into a completely different set of subroutines to engage in combat. It's directly inspired by games like "Zelda", "Heroes of Might and Magic", the original "Diablo" and the assorted "Final Fantasy" lines. The mechanisms of the game draw heavily on these, but with a bit more variation possible in the narrative.
This product is an experiment. It is designed as a living document and as a crowdfunding platform. It is a chance for people who are interested a new game to get in at the ground floor, help with the funding for editors and artists. Anyone interested at the early stages of the project will continue to receive updates as the product grows and develops, as the product matures the price will gradually increase to reflect the greater amount of artwork and the improved quality of the game. Early adopters are rewarded with a lower entry price, later adopters get a better opportunity to assess the final project before commiting their funds (but by this stage the price will have gone up).
Your choice, buy in early, or wait to see the final product and pay a bit more.

There is certainly enough here to get things started, and we'll be adding more to it all the time. The only things you'll need in addition to these components are a few ten sided dice, some pens or pencils and a couple of figures to use when conflict arises.
As the project accumulates funds, we'll be adding more to it. Everyone who has already contributed will gain the updates free of charge.
$1-$200: The first funding will be used to commission artworks depicting each of the cultures and callings. These will be added to the relevant booklets and be made available as paper figures to use in the game. (Once $200 is reached, the base cost will rise to $6)
$201-$400: The next funding will be used to generate a series of scenarios for the game, as well as expanded equipment, spells and prayers. These will be used to diversify the options available to heroes, allies and enemies. (Once $400 is reached, the base cost will rise to $7)
$401-$700: A range of advanced character types will be added as new booklets, these will give players something to aspire toward with their heroes (or allow them to confront more powerful adversaries). (Once $200 is reached, the base cost will rise to $8)
$701-$1000: New disc maps will be made available, as well as paper models depicting buildings, ruins and other scenery found on the discs. Everyone who has contributed to the living rulebook will gain a $10 bonus when the project is launched as a physical copy via a crowdfunding project. This bonus may come in the form of a handmade physical amulet or piece of jewellery that can be used as a prop in games, or an upgrade to some exclusive content. (Once $1000 is reached, the base cost will rise to $10)
Throughout the course of the project, an FAQ will be developed and expanded, available at all contributors. If you have any problems with the product, or need anything explained, we'll be happy to make clarifications and improve the product.
Thanks for taking enough of an interest to open up this link.
