GM Screen
$31.95

Many GMs consider a Game Master Screen to be core item for a gaming table. Along with dice, miniatures and maps, it's a gaming accessory that gets used and re-used over many years of gaming.

We wanted to offer the very best screen we could find, so we've partnered with Hammerdog Games to make their TWGS (The World's' Greatest Screen) available on DriveThruRPG and RPGNow both as a stand-alone and also in combination with screen inserts from many top roleplaying game publishers.

  • Made of durable vinyl
  • Re-usable and customizable for any game system

This is truly the only GM Screen you will ever need to buy. Made from durable vinyl material, the four panel screen has eight clear pockets (one on each side on each panel) to hold sheet inserts. As you change campaigns or game systems, you need only remove and replace the inserts with the tables, charts and quick reference materials you need most for whatever game you're playing at the moment. Likewise you can change out the inserts facing your players to hold art, maps, handouts or other visuals pertinent to tonight's game session.

For your convenience, many publishers offer ready-made inserts as downloads and as pre-printed cardstock sheets here on DriveThruRPG and RPGNow.

Each of the eight screen pockets holds an 8.5" x 11" page.

Screens are available in landscape and portrait orientation so choose whichever model you prefer. This product is the landscape orientation screen.

Why do you only offer premium postage options to Australia? You offer lower-cost postage on other products.

Our card products and book products are produced at different facilities. The GM Screens are shipped from our card printing facility so we can easily included the cardstock inserts publishers offer with the screen.
With books, we have an additional facility in the U.K. which prints books bound for Australia and uses the U.K. Royal Mail service to reduce cost to Australia on book shipments. We don't have as good of an option on card products where we currently only produce and ship from the USA.

I bought one of these last fall via Amazon and the flexible section started splitting after a couple months. I'll note that I am not hard on the screen, I keep it on my bookshelf with my 5e books. We play a couple times a month. The plastic used for the flexible sections appears to be to brittle to be a good choice for that section of the screen.

I also have second screen for my other rpgs that I've not actually used as of yet. I snagged it because the first one impressed me so much when I first got it in that I figured I'd another one for Runequest or GURPS. We'll see how well that one holds up, but again I think the flexible section of the Screens are too brittle for the job that they're supposed to do.

James, I'm not aware that we've had any similar problems reported with the screens we sell. We'd replace a screen that split like that under normal use if it were reported to us.

So you can't use A4 with the screen?

What size then, i s8.5" x 11" and what would I need to do to make my A4 print outs fit into the sleeve pockets?

An A4 measures 210 × 297 millimeters or 8.27 × 11.69 inches. So the A4 might fit without changes, but the plastic sleeves fit tightly, so at most you would need to trim .19 inches (half a centimeter) off the length of your A4 page.

Can you please have a cheaper shipping option to Norway? I had it in my checkout, but the shipping cost was $50 ( a total of $82), so I just cancelled it.

Thank you :)

I wish that we could. This rate is the direct rate from US Postal Service (http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/Notice123.htm) with only a little added for the packaging costs.
The screens are dense and heavy and international shipping from the US is expensive.
We hope to eventually add a European ship location for these (and all of our card/poster/screen products), but it is not imminent.

Is this shipped from hammerdog games or from RPGnow.com? If the former then I will not bother as they have terrible customer service, if it is rpgnow.com, I will consider it as they have always been excellent over the years.

Steven,
Thanks for the compliment. We appreciate it!
We keep screens in stock ourselves, so your order will be processed by us not by HammerDog.
Assuming you order your screen with a printed inserts (same price why not!) it takes us 1-5 business days to print the inserts and mail out your screen and inserts to you. Then normal shipment time based on the shipping method you select.

Joshua,
If you visit this category on site:
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?filters=0_0_0_45288_0
you can see various publishers who have uploaded screen inserts for their games.
You can often purchase those inserts three ways: 1) PDF you print at home, 2) Printed inserts-only, we print them on cardstock and send them to you. 3) Inserts plus GM Screen. When you buy the third option you pay the same as if you bought the screen by itself but you also get the printed inserts for that game at no extra charge.

Any chance on getting these in A4 and A3? They'd be great if they were a standard paper size for Das Schwarze Auge and Pathfinder.

As there's pod from europe there will be any option to get that not from the USA? High Shipping costs and customs is something that
I would love to avoid?
Thanks

We would love for you to avoid them also.
For books, we print and ship from both the USA and the UK. Printing books in the UK keeps the freight and customs cost in the EU low.
For card products, including the screen inserts and the GM Screens, we currently only print in the USA. We will add a print location for cards in the EU, but realistically this will not happen for quite some time (1-2 years).

Great job in finally getting a system agnostic, multi-use screen. I plan on printing my own A4 screen pages. Tell me if that will not work. Also, is there a list somewhere of all available inserts for this or an easy way to search for it?

Claus,
Thanks, we're happy to be offering the screens.
The screens are sized for US-sized 8.5 inch x 11 inch pages, but it would not take much trimming to make A4 sheets work just fine.
We are currently working with publishers so that many more offer screen inserts for this screen. We are also working on improving how you can Browse to find all of the inserts easily on site. As of the day of this post, you can try this browse filter:
http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/browse.php?filters=0_2281_0_0_0
for GM Screens, or try this Print Format browse filter:
http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/browse.php?filters=0_0_0_44294_0
where we will be adding a "Screen Inserts" subcategory later today or tomorrow for all such titles that also offer printed versions of the inserts on cardstock through our print-to-order system.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
