For as long as we've been gaming, heroes have ventured out and cut their teeth on the various humanoid tribes in an attempt to make a name for themselves and get rich.  Now the tables have turned, and it's the goblinoids chance to get revenge.

 

This version of X1 is designed for use to be compatible with D&D™ 5th edition, for 4-5 characters of 1st level.  The scope of this adventure is meant to be a few-session break from your current campaign, to play as the monsters for a neat change of pace.  While it can be part of a greater campaign, it has not been designed as such, and thus may be a bit linear in design.

X1 is the first adventure of a two part series, with X2 Payback bringing conclusion to this adventure path.

Decent for $5 and a night's departure from the norm. We used it as a supplement to the world's most popular RPG and the new starter module that rhymes with "The Fines of Mandolin". The subplot was the poor goblins, played by us in this adventure, who are being mistreated by a particular rogue mage's band of cutthroats. (These goblins had been made slaves and have lost their homes--in keeping with this adventure--and now they must rally and relocate). Ultimately, we want to tie this adventure back by having the goblins help us oppose the mage.

This adventure itself allows for some decent loot drops that our regular characters plan to take from the goblins (us) when we tie them back in as NPCs. This made for some interesting role playing...knowing that you planned to steal from yourself later.

Overall, enjoyable.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
