For this Savage realm of Suzerain take all the classic fey folk and dunk them in a mix of steampunk shenanigans.

Enter Mechadia, a Savage realm of Suzerain where idyllic sylvan glades merge with mechanical wonders. Eleven airship pirates hide away on floating islands; begoggled goblins run amok in steam-powered brass-and steel; brownie alchemists seek formulae for new ways to harness the pulse beyond the clouds. But the trolls have become restless as they toil to keep the great gears of the land turning smoothly. Fey lords and ladies vie for rulership over the fledgling realm, and lines are being drawn in the copper dust...

The fey are gearing up for mischief. Do you have the brass to join the game?

Inside you'll find all you need to create characters in this unique setting, a wealth of background information, a plot point campaign for Novice characters, heaps of Savage Tales, and stats for all manner of new NPCs and critters.

Product contains: A 158-page high resolution PDF. A copy of Savage Suzerain is also recommended to get the best out of this book.

A nice idea and lots of interesting information but it falls foul of one aspect that I think is game breaking - no map. No map of individual continents or the world. The authors say this is because the world and the continents are constantly in flux, turning and spinning like cogs in a wheel. A nice idea in theory but not practical as a game setting. I really think this game breaking aspect should be placed in the description to ensure people know what they are buying.

So in closing, a nice idea with lots of things that could be used with another steampunk setting like The Widening Gyre, but is broken by having no clear foundation in setting.

3 out of 5 at best.

The fact that the setting has an ever-shifting landscape is part of what makes this corner of the Fey Realm of Dreams exciting for many gaming groups. I get that it's disconcerting for Ronnie to not have a firm map (because the map would be ever-changing), but there are ways to plot movement from A to B - it's a logical movement, like clockwork in fact - so it doesn't stop a great story from unfolding.

If, like Ronnie you want your world to be stable and not having fixed positions for A and B is a game-breaker, then please go ahead and try some of our other settings. If, like many gamers, you're intrigued by the prospect of a new type of setting, then I don't think you'll struggle with Clockwork Dreams. There's a lot to love inside this book.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
