Shadowrun: Chrome Flesh

ADD TO WISHLIST >

EDGE OF THE POSSIBLE

Shadowrunners cannot be limited by what their bodies can—or cannot—do. They have to do more, stretch farther, surpass any limits, and accomplish the impossible. Some runners can rely on magic; for everyone else, there are augmentations. From shiny chrome that makes your body into a humanoid semitruck to genetech that alters you at the most fundamental level to drugs and chemicals that give you a quick and dirty boost, Chrome Flesh provides dozens of new ways to alter Shadowrun characters and make them better, stronger, faster, and altogether readier to kick ass and take names on the streets.

Along with the gear and a compiled table of all cyberware, bioware, genetech, and nanotech currently available in Shadowrun, Fifth Edition, Chrome Flesh covers how runners break down and what resources can help fix them up, and where augmentation tech might go in the future. It’s paydata every shadowrunner needs if they want to overcome everything the Sixth World is going to throw at them.

Chrome Flesh is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

What I still miss is some rule on what happens if I had e.g. Wired Reflexes (standard) build in and upgrade these to alpha or beta .. with much less costs on essence. Well .. still house-rouling :(

If an item you upgrade cost less in essence than the item you had you will not loose any essence from the new item. Example: If you purchased Wired Reflexes (Rating 2) this would remove 3 essence from your body giving you a total of 3 essence. Later you upgrade to Wired Reflexes (Rating 1) which only consumes 2 essence, and since the new item is only 2 essence this leaves you with 1 essence to add new items before you reduce your total essence, so you would still have a total of 3 essence after you upgrade your Wired Reflexes. You could then added Dermal Plating (Rank 2) for 1 essence still leaving your total remaining essence at 3.

I hope this helped.

Why is the table of contents so poorly done, Catalyst? I'd be willing to pay $25 for a PDF, but ONLY if it is really well done. The 5th Edition core rulebook has a great and detailed TOC, but the last couple of books that have come out have had a TOC that's literally no better than a blank page. Why? Fix it for the PDF and I'll buy it. I doubt I'm the only one who is unhappy with this trend.

ok, the long and the short of this book is as follows. 1. its an updated version of the book "augmentation"..so ya actually something useful in this book for a change. 2. Fluff, fluff and more fluff on CDF, a waste of so many pages on cdf, god I wish they would drop an emp warhead on the cdf and get rid of it, it so detracts from the game. 3. a lot of fluff on mental illness for cdf players, big woop and more fluff. Not to make sport of mental illness, it is a serious issue but in the CDF useage, unless your group is into heavy live action roleplaying, so much fluff and so many wasted pages. 4. the quick links to go to a certain section of the has been dropped all together. Me thinks this speaks poorly and all of cataylsts focus is on their computer game and the book stuff can go f*** itself at this point.

Final word..some useable material..to much fluff..my advice, let someone else in your gaming group buy it and get a copy from them...this product will having some good stuff is so...See more

They don't, but they are working hand in hand with the guys making Shadowrun Chronicles. That game is fully canon and the other recent release is a huge tie in book also about CFD (Lockdown).

Given how the company that was making that game declared bankruptcy, I kind of doubt the accuracy of your theory.

To the best of my knowledge, nobody from the Chrome Flesh team is involved with any of the back & forth with Cliffhanger productions - except Jason Hardy, because line developer - but I'd be genuinely surprised if Shadowrun Chronicles had any impact on this release whatsoever.

Also, thank you for getting the initials CFD in the correct order; took me a minute to figure out what Robert L was upset about. :)

To Robert: cool, the product is mostly setting information. That's useful to know, thank you :)

Fluff is far from useless. Backstory and setting are a huge chunk of any game line. Fluff might be tiresome to you, but some of us find it as important, if not more so, than the crunchy rules bits.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
