What’s the difference between the “screen” and “print “” versions? I’m confused.

The screen edition is a smaller file--the images have been squished--which means that the version renders quicker on an iPad, laptop or another screen. The print edition is optimised for printing.

I hate to be THAT GUY, but the MISCELLANEOUS: STRANGE MAGICAL AFFECTS should be MISCELLANEOUS: STRANGE MAGICAL EFFECTS. "Affects" is a verb, "Effects" is a noun.

I found that

- there is no section "Simple Magic Traps" in the PDF
- at some places there is a reference to a traps table that does not exist either, at some places it says something like "Trapped, see pages 6-7", or "see pages 8-9", or "see Table C", which all do not contain any information about traps
- the product contains a funny file "GMM_DD_Neutral_print." (no file extension), which seems to be similar to the _print.pdf, but 0.3MB larger - what is it?

I apologise for these errors, Eike. The references you note are leftover artefacts from the Pathfinder edition of the book. I Will add them to my list of corrections to make.

The file you reference is a print-ready PDF file for high quality printing.

I hope that helps

Preview unavailable. Mentioned Sample on website requires too much personal info to access (phone number and address? really? sigh). I just want to see a small sample before I plunk down cash.

Is it possible to get this Deal of the Day today, but in the Pathfinder version?

Sadly, no. The Deal of the Day can only be one product. We've done the Pathfinder version as the Deal of the Day and sureI'm we will again!

I bought this and use it in Pathfinder and also in 5e. Very nice book. Very handy. I pull it out every few sessions and throw in a nasty trap or some other little gem.

I just bought this and the files that I downloaded did NOT have the PDF extension.
I had to rename them and then I was able to open them normally.

I'm sorry about that. I've upload new versions of the files that contain the proper extension so hopefully they should work fine now.

What is the difference between this version and the Pathfinder version? I play 3.5 so which version would be more useful to me?

The System Neutral version has no mechanics at all (and is slightly shorter as a result). If you play 3.5, I'd go with the Pathfinder version. You'll have to do a little bit of conversion--for example use Spot or Listen instead of Perception--but the systems are so closely related it shouldn't be a problem.

Hope that helps!

I just purchased this last night along with several other Raging Swan products. First: holy cow, this is great. That being said...I was really looking forward to using the addendum about treasure in my game tonight...unfortunately, once I'd downloaded this, it became apparent that the System-Neutral version does not include the treasure section that ends the Pathfinder version. Since I currently get an error message and no preview file available when I click on the preview for the System-Neutral file on DTRPG, this wasn't immediately evident before purchasing. I'm still really glad to have this resource (and to be fair, I see that the product description column shows a substantially different page-count between the versions), but it would have been nice to have a bit clearer sense of the product differences when deciding on my options. Anyway, thanks for what looks like a great and useful product!

Hi! Thank you for the kind words and I'm sorry the description for the book wasn't clear enough. I do actually have four products that effective reproduce the treasure tables in this book and would be happy to send them to you free of charge. I need your DriveThru email addy to send them to you. Could you drop me a note a using the Contact button in the Publisher box in the left-hand sidebar of this page?

Thank you for the generous offer; I've sent you a PM. I went ahead and used this resource last night at the gaming table; it was really great, even without those treasure tables! I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
