Spellbook Games is pleased to announce the release of Gazetteer of Hell #4, “Realms of Shadow,” the last in the Gazetteer series.  ‘Realms of Shadow’ provides more than 1200 adventure ideas and locations found throughout the outer region of Malebolge/ Inferno, consisting of Circle Zero, the First Circle, and the Second Circle of Hell.  Each location kernel is suitable for development by a Games Master into a full adventure location in Hell.  The outer region of Hell is torus 100 miles across, mapped at a scale of 2 miles/hex.  It stretches from the Outer Wall of Hell at the base of the Pit to the frozen edge of the Third Circle, every part shrouded in a perpetual zone of darkness.  The complete set of the four Gazetteers of Hell describes all of Inferno in detail from the pit rim to Lucifer trapped in deep Cocytus; the complete Gazetteer series consists of Realms of Shadow, Lead and Hounds, Blood and Mire, and Fire and Ice.  Some of the locations described in Realms of Shadow are more completely described in Spellbook Game’s Inferno: Journey through Malebolge.  Other useful references include Spellbook Game’s Inferno: Bestiary, Inferno: Treasury, and Gehenna Primer.

Realms of Shadow is written for Spellbook Game’s RPG rule set, Portal to Adventure, but is usable with Advanced Dungeons and Dragons or similar rule sets.  Games Masters using Third Edition and later editions, or similar rule sets, may require work. $5.68.  142 pages.  Realms of Shadow is not available in print-on-demand.

PURCHASER
Is there any chance this product and the rest of the Inferno line, like Oasis of Koessa and Samael's Tower, will be available in print? I would really like to see the whole thing compiled into a series of hardback books, but at least all the titles in softcover would be most awesome! Thank you!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
