This is an introductory adventure for those playing the 5th Edition of the world's best known and oldest RPG. The module has been designed to allow for the players and Game Master alike to begin play immediately.

The Drunderry River runs narrow and fast through much of its course, before tumbling into the lowlands beneath the Fallow Hills, in the shadows of the Blacktooth Ridge. From there, the river spreads out across fertile plains, laboring slowly to the south before emptying into the Elmarsh Lake. Until recently this area was unsettled, but a writ of the King's has brought many people to the area. The village of Malforten, nesteld along the banks fo the Drunderry River, near the Fallow Hills, is just such a place.

A quiet village with simple people, they learned the hard way the Blacktooth Ridge casts a deep and dark shadow. Seeing rich prizes in cattle and grain, people and other movables, Gritznak the Gnoll has come down from the Blacktooth with loot on his mind.

All they've done to drive him off have failed, at their wits end the villagers turn to others, more experienced in combatting evil. They look to a rising knight to save them . . . .

Playable in the world of Aihrde, available here!

Does this come with maps of the dungeon? I got a copy as part of a package on Humble Bundle, but there are no dungeon maps in the pdf I have.

Was this updated to properly use the 5th Edition SRD?

I have to say that I'm not a fan of the way Troll Lord Games presents monster/NPC stat blocks in the adventures. While I appreciate the fact that the designers include them in the spots where those monsters appear, I find the run-on paragraph of stats to more or less be visual noise. Were I to run this, I would definitely need to transcribe the stats into a more readable format.

Is this for D&D 5th edition?

As far as I understand from their mailing list, yes it is for D&D 5th edition, but they can not legally say so. Anytime you see reference to "the world's oldest/greatest/biggest roleplaying game" they are talking about D&D. 5e has no Open Gaming License agreement in place, so they can not legally produce products that say "D&D".

This is the Troll Lords making their gaming world Aihrde available to D&D players, which is awesome because Aihrde is really well designed. I guess they figured that 5e was making all the right moves and was close enough to C&C to make the jump.

Thanks. That's what I figured.

And I agree that 5E is making all the right moves. I left D&D after 2E and moved on to other RPGs. I thought 3E was a move in the right direction, but it didn't win me over. 5E has won me back :)

A0 and A1 are both excellent. A0 reminds me a bit of T1 Hommlet. There is a town (although not as detailed as Hommlet). It is being plagued by demi-human raiders/bandits. The dungeon site has some interesting aspects to it. Without spoiling, there is an evil that is influencing things happening in the dungeon. It's a solid introductory module.

A1 is even better. It has a lerge town that is very detailed and has some sandbox elements and side adventure hooks that the DM could flesh out (aside from the main plot). Both of these are very solid modules.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
