What Lives in the Tomb?

Wondrous, Dangerous Things!

Tomb of Tiberesh is an adventure for the Southlands Campaign Setting for five or six 2nd-level characters and uses the 5th Edition rules. It is easily adapted to any fantasy desert campaign.

Just outside Per-Bastet, in the kingdom of Nuria Natal, lie the newly discovered remains of Anu-Asir, a city once believed to exist only in myth. The ruins of Anu-Asir lie submerged under accumulations of sand, floodwater, and tall tales. It is now a hub of activity for those seeking to uncover its secrets—and profit from them. Droves of the curious, hopeful, greedy, and eccentric congregate around the unearthed city.

And just outside Anu-Asir, across the River Nuria, lies the most recently surfaced relic: the Pyramid of Tiberesh. Dare you explore its deadly mysteries?

This adventure premiered at Gen Con 2015 in Indianapolis, to much acclaim, and is presented here in an expanded version.

How many 3-4 hour-long sessions is this adventure expected to take?

The link provided above for "Southlands Campaign Setting" is for the Pathfinder version, and since the 5e version has not been released yet you might want to remove this link until the 5e version of the Southlands Campaign Setting is available.

Could someone please tell what the changes are in the updated version v2? Thanks.

By the way, I guessed that to get the items from room 12 you first had to go through The Queen's Chamber, room 13. So the characters had to investigate the second entrance of the pyramid via the broken wall. That is the way I ran the adventure.

I haven't seen any changes about that in the updated version v2.

Anyways, I don't understand the explanation that Benjamin M gave. Could you please explain it in another way? Thanks.

I've been reading through this and it seems to me that you have to have items from the Funerary Foyer (12) in order to open the secret passages from The Chamber of the Obelisk (11) that will let you to the Funerary Foyer in the first place. Have I missed something?

Thanks for pointing this out, I believe this was a mistake in the map itself. Room 12 should not be behind secret doors, those should have been open archways.

You haven't missed anything. Those secret doors shouldn't be there. I've submitted an adjustment to the text to the Publisher to get it resolved. I did the initial passes on it for convention play, so I cross-referenced it and gave him the fixes.

The southernmost stair goes down once revealed, and the middle stair goes up. Otherwise, it should be good.

DM Note: This adventure contains save or die mechanics, so if you plan on using this in an ongoing campaign you will need to adjust accordingly if character death is a concern. Additionally, please think of the "alternate endings" section as a "choose your own ending".

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
