Wield power unimaginable as an Erkunae- the Favored Sons of Chaos!

New race for the amazingly popular Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG game!

In the ancient mists of time the ancestors of the erkunae, neither elf nor man, made sorcerous and dire pacts with the Beast Elders of long ago, and promised their souls and the souls of the race, down through the eons to the capricious Lords of Chaos, unknowable beings of mercurial whim. With innate spells of summoning and controlling beasts and monsters, and gaining power through beseeching the Chaos Lords themselves, the erkunae ruled their sphere of influence for millennia.  Their influence has waned over the centuries, and today they mostly brood and squabble in their fantastic and warped Misty City of G’sho’laa’n’rr, which sprawls over an entire island.  But under the strength of a new Opal Throne Emperor, they could be great again!  The dragon-riders could fly once more to dominate the world…

Races of Porphyra: Erkunae by Purple Duck Games has everything you need to introduce this mystical race of Chaos worshippers into your DCC game!

  • Statistics for creating erkunae characters, 0-level and up
  • Realms of Summoning for the erkunae- or for other wizards who want ready stats for the spells animal summoning or monster summoning
  • A new spell, pledge to chaos- ritual of worship for the erkunae, and doorway to power granted from the Lords of Chaos!

The erkunae are unlike any other race in the DCC world, thralls to the whim of Chaos, which can lead them to great power or lay them low to grovel at the feet of entropy.  Try them out today in your favorite funnel, get them from the Limbo-ridden lunatics at Purple Duck Games, where our games are what you want!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
