The Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Campaign Guide

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In the snowy, icy fields of the North, entire tribes of barbarians – disease-bound servants of the Thrall Lords – amass, mustering for Ragnarök. Their ears tuned to whispers sane men cannot hear, these horrid foes wait only for the guttural command of their masters. Further south, the dead gather among the ruins of pulverized cities, growing stronger in shadows of the Ghoul Stone, the necromantic bridge between Midgard and Neinferth. All the while, the good people of the South stand divided against their aggressors – the City-States of Vallinar embracing technology as a means to win Ragnarök, while the ælves and their allies battle to eradicate every trace of it. All the while, the daily tick of the Ragnarök Clock marks the passing of another season, bringing every branch of Yggdrasil closer to Ragnarök – the final battle.

The long-awaited Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Campaign Guide contains:

A detailed look at the world of Rhune, from the lands of the Middle Court to the various realms beyond, including information on:

Reading through the comments, I see promises of a POD version - which is not there. I see hints of a Savage Worlds version - which is not there.

Have you given up on the project, or are any of these things (or even future products) still coming?

Erik,

We still plan to revise the original book and bring it to PoD.

I saw on the facebook page that there are Hero lab files for this setting. Are they available somewhere? Or do I get them with the campaign book? They make DMing a ton easier.

The setting looks amazing from what I have seen of it.

Neil,

We did not. The volunteer working on that conversion had to leave the project. I don't have the time to do the conversions myself, either. I wish I had better news, but there it is.

Cheers,
Jaye

I understand, Hero lab is a bit of a mess to start coding things for if you are not super familiar with it. Would have been nice to see some things for it though.
Keep up the good work with things.

There's a new version of Savage Worlds out now, and the licensing has changed a bit. Is the Savage Worlds version still coming?

Is this the first book to buy if I want to use the campaign setting? Is there a Core Rule Book for Rhune?

Sorry for the late reply Matthew. Yes, provided you have the Pathfinder Core Rulebook (or access to d20pfsrd.com), this is all you need to play!

(Although we did write some pretty cool adventures, too. Just saying.)

Cheers,
Jaye

I just read endzeitgeist's review of the book. Any chance that the formatting errors are corrected and then re-released in print form? I would love to purchase a hardback copy, but not if it is so riddled with formatting errors as it currently is in.

Derfael - While we think the formatting issues are relatively minor, we plan to go through the whole book again in April. We're shooting for a second print run in May, and opening up print on demand at that time, as well.

We're still in work on conversion. It's a big book (350+ pages) and we only have a single person working on conversion. It's taking longer than we like. :(

It uses Pathfinder, but there are some tweaks to firearms in there (which are optional, but there).

What system does this use? D&D? Pathfinder? Or original?

If you look at the top left-hand corner of book's cover, you will see that it clearly shows the Pathfinder compatibility logo.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
