Secrets of Theurgy
Written by: M Jason Parent
Page Count: 15 pages

Mystic theurges use arcane methods to explore their spirituality and faith, and then seek within this faith for secrets and abilities that can be applied to their arcane studies. This blurring of the traditional lines of esoteric and faith grants mystic theurges incredible powers of arcane and divine spellcraft. They have chosen a synergized approach to magical power, more diverse and potentially more potent than the traditional paths of clerics and wizards.

The mystic theurge is probably the second most debated change to the 3.5 rules set (right after the changes to weapon sizes). Some feel the class is too powerful, others too weak - regardless, the class bends and blurs the lines between arcane and divine spellcasting.

Within this short product, the Mystic Theurge is expanded upon, three additional paths of theurgy are explored (elemetal theurges, the lord of undeath, and the theurgic lorewarden), as well as the quintessential master of theurgy - the heirophant theurge. The product is rounded off with a small selection of theurgic feats and magic items appropriate to a game where theurgy is is a central element, either through player involvement in the class or through adventures about theurgists and their churches.

For those who find theurgy overpowered, there are reduced power variants and rules for reducing the power of the 'core' mystic theurge also to be found within this product.

"Its just rare that I read a prestige class and just really want to play it. IMO you fixed what was wrong with the basic class. You devised a way to give them an interesting direction instead of being bland like the Mystic Theurge is." -- Chris Gath, E.N.World PDF Reviewer

This product is priced under the $5 minimum order for an RPGnow order. In order to bring your total order over $5, we recommend E.N.Arsenal - Spiked Chain - a short PDF about the spiked chain and those who wield it.

This book oddly enough reminded me of their Arsenal series. It takes a single item from the core rules and expands upon it in new and exciting ways. The first Arsenal book did that for Spiked Chains, and this does it for the Mystic Theurge. However, th [...]

A good idea but not developed enough to be a real worth while idea. It needs perhaps a better strenghts and weaknesses area, perhaps magic items to work with them specific to the class and an overall mythos to provide framework of how to play a very po [...]

Excellent work that provides more depth to the mystic theurge PrC. I really like the different variantions of the mystic theurge such as the theurgic lorewarden, and the new theurgic feats and magic items. If you want to expand the mystic theurg [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
