ATTENTION: This is the new version of the GGMH. Version 3.0 has a terrific new look with some great art to make it more appealing to the eyes.
The Generic Game Master's Helper (GGMH) is a software tool designed to be used by the game master during actual RPG play. It is designed to be used with any fantasy RPG.
This great product includes functions that are intended to make the game master's job easier, and the gameplay more fun for everyone.
The functions included in the deluxe version of the GGMH are:
Dice - Roll all of the general types of dice commonly used in FRPGs. The 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, and 100 sided dice are included. Also you can define your own custom sided die to be rolled (need a 24 sided dice, just tell the GGMH and you've got it). You can also tell it how many times to roll the given die, and any number you may want to add or subtract from the roll.
Random Weather - This function is designed to help the game master add a little flavor to the game. You choose what time of year it is and then let the program generate descriptive text to read to your players. The Random Weather function can generate over 400 general statements about the weather. This is not a simple "it's 75 degrees outside" statement, but rather a descriptive piece of text meant to add realism and immersion to the game.
Random Names - When you are creating your adventure you don't always have time to come up with a name for every shopkeeper or NPC walking around the city streets or walking down the road. This function adds immersion to your game by quickly giving you a fantasy name when you need one. The Random name generator is capable of generating over 4 MILLION fantasy names. You choose whether you want just a first name, or a first and last name, and let the program do the rest. The great thing is that if you don't like a name it gives you, you can quickly generate another. This function generates names that sound good for general NPCs and names that you may give to monsters.
Random Business Names - So you've created your city, but it's game time and you haven't named all the shops (or even decided what shops are in the city). Well, the GGMH is here to help. Simply choose what type of business name you would like to generate and let the program supply you with a name. This function can supply you with over 2500 business names. The categories are: Taverns & Inns, Armor & Weapon Stores, Magic Shops, and General Stores. Once you have the store type and name it's easy to grab your RPG source book and tell your players what the store has for sale (and don't forget to use the Random Name Generator to give the storekeeper a name).
NPC Traits - It's so easy to create an NPC and not take the time to make him seem like a living, breathing person. The NPC Traits function helps you make your NPCs seem a little more real. Simply choose physical traits, personality traits, or both and let the GGMH make your game a little more alive! This function can supply you with over 5000 random physical trait combinations and over 23000 random personal trait combinations. Now your NPCs don't have to all seem the same. They can look and act more like real people based on the information the GGMH gives you.
Random Treasure - This function generates general random treasure for those times when you haven't decided what treasure that monster was carrying. This is strictly for generic treasure, so no magic is included. But you can generate any combination of gems, jewelry, gold, silver, and copper based on how large an amount you want.
Random Side Encounters - So your adventurers are walking down the street to their destination and you've got nothing interesting for them to see or hear. Just use this function to add a bit of excitement to the game. The encounters generated here are not meant to be major story or combat encounters. Instead they are meant to be little things that make your player wonder what's around the next bend in the road. There are over 100 encounters that can be generated. They can simply be flavor text, or you can use the ideas to create a new adventure hook for your players.
This software can really add that extra "oomph" to your game. Your players will be amazed at the detail you've added to your world once you start using the GGMH!
