Description:

Part 3 and the conclusion of the Albenistan Series.

Time is running out. Somewhere, a nationalist extremist has a deadly device he is preparing to unleash on an unsuspecting populace. The Albenistan military believes it knows where the device may be, but the Increment--the para-military, special operations wing of Great Britain's Secret Intelligence Service--believes the extremist and his device have reached the city of Khorforjan, the center for the international effort to aid the refugees in the unstable region bordering Afghanistan. With no support and little time, the Increment team rushes to Khorforjan, hoping to avert the insane gambit of a remorseless criminal.

This no-FX, Modern adventure for 4 characters of levels 9 to 11 from Sword's Edge Publishing's Spec Ops line. "The Khorforjan Gambit" is the final in a series of three adventures set in the fictional Republic of Albenistan which began with Raid on Ashkashem and continued with the Qalashar Device.

Gaming Report gives The Khorforjan Gambit 4.5/5 saying "The Khorforjan Gambit offers an interesting, well-arranged plot of investigation and action under a deadly timeline, backed with a fair selection of detailed support material. Overall, this is a superb module, . . . while the main plot and character descriptions are perfect."

d20 Zines says "The Khorforjan Gambit is practically a sourcebook in itself; containing more than enough material to create a dangerous, disorienting adventure in the world of Middle-East politics and warfare. This much credible detail about the motivations and tactics of the various groups vying to establish peace or power in Albenistan can easily lead to some tense interactions at the gaming table. "

This adventure is quite different from the previous two Albenistan episodes, but in many ways the same quality of intense attention to local detail works well in this structure also. "Raid on Ashkashem" is just what the title implies, and there' [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
