"Enemy Troops Found with Mysterious Serums!"

"British Commandos Encounter Nazi Super Soldiers!"

"Spies Report Shocking Biochemical Research in the Soviet Union!"

These headlines and others first began appearing early in 1948. Now the Data Bank has been updated with information on all 110 of these incredible serums. This file details all known fast-acting serums that are produced in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Japan in 1948. These serums are injected into the user via hypodermic needle. They have immediate onset times and limited durations, functioning similar to potions. However, unlike potions, these biochemical injections also cause physical changes in their subjects as the user becomes imbued with super-human power. With this supplement your PCs and their adversaries can become mutant mega-men, hybrid beast-men, and even super soldiers! Add these wonders of sci-fi biochemistry to your 1948 game today!

This supplement is one in a series of titles that lay the groundwork for the 1948 Campaign Setting. The full 1948 series includes the following titles:

Very nice. While it is, as others have commented, essentially a modern version of Fantasy potions dressed up in Mad Science flavor text, it's still a very useful way to itroduce such effects into a low- or no-magic modern setting, or even a future one [...]

This product is a neat idea and its reasonably balanced, yet interesting as well. Its very easy to adapt to any modern system campaign, and it can add an interesting dynamic to otherwise normal "thugs". Plus, it can be a cool reward for charac [...]

"Potions" for D20 Modern. Not as flashy, though, they change the drinker/imbider, giving them enhanced abilities for a limited time. LIKED: It's good guide to build some other alchemy-type serums for a Modern game with more fant [...]

Relatively short lived chemical power ups for Japanese, Soviet and German soldiers. Note there is some overlap in serums so there isn't 101 different effects (more like 50ish). With proper visial effects, this should help scare your players. I wish [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
