I want to make sure that I'm reading this properly, because if I am, it means that some content is missing. Under the Wonderwork class ability, it says that wonderworks take two forms. One of these is hybrid spells, but it does not seem to mention the other form. Am I missing something here?

I really dig this class, but got a couple questions about spells known.

1. Under starting spells as well as spells gained at new level, it says you gain two new spells... For a total of four, or is that just a redundancy?

2. And is there any other way to add new spells to your Imagination, like a wizard paying scribing costs to add spells to his book?

1. Yes, this is a redundancy in the text which you have uncovered. I will be emailing my publisher a way to fix it.
2. Presently, the only way to add more spells to your imagination is to level up. There are a LOT of spells to choose from, after all. However, I will also be sending my publisher a feat idea that would allow more spells to be added. The feat should read something like this:

Extra Imagination Spells
Prerequisites: Wonderworker 3rd
Benefit: When a wonderworker selects this feat, he can select one spell from the druid or wizard spell lists that is of a wonderworker spell level he can cast.
He adds this spell to his imagination and list of wonderworker spells known as a wonderworker spell of its druid or wizard spell level. He can instead select two spells to add in this way, but both must be at least one level lower than the highest-level...See more

Why did you not allow the Wonderworker to learn spells like a Wizard? They seem far more limited than other casting classes. It almost feels like they get the worst parts of all of them. Low spells per day and limited spells known feel really bad together.

First off, I'd like to say that I love this class. There have been a bunch of versions of this kind of thing over the years but this is the first one that feels fair and balanced while maintaining the level of potential that it would need. I can't wait to see how it works in game, even if filling imagination slots feels kind of daunting. I do have a few questions however:

1: When looking at the Wonderwork hybrid spell ability is it intended for the caster to have to know both parent spells? And how does metamagic factor into this ability, if at all?
2: Is there a reason that there isn't a 'retraining' option for spells known as with other casters that don't work out of a spellbook? Or is it intended for the character to be able to learn spells from any wizard or druid source (as the statement "A wonderworker may know any number of spells" would suggest) and the "Spells Gained At A New Level" is the same as the Wizard ability?

Hey Michael E. Author here. I want to start off by saying thank you for the praise of this class. It means a lot. As for your questions:

1. Yes, they must know both parent spells. Also, metamagic feats can be applied to hybrid spells once they are properly composed.
2. A very good question. To answer it, I will request that my publisher add the following line in a revision in the spells section: "A wonderworker may prepare and cast any spell on the druid or wizard/sorcerer spell lists, provided that she can cast spells of that level, but she must choose which spells to prepare during his hour of daily musing." I realize this basically means that they "know" all them yummy spells, but I am confident the Spells Per Day chart will bottleneck these options.
3. You caught a mistake. I will ask my publisher to remove "and this spell cannot be used to cast a spell spontaneously" from this sentence. Wonderworkers are not spontaneous casters.

You're very welcome. If I could make one more recommendation editing wise it might be worth moving the second Wonderwork ability to the beginning as opposed to having it after the example spell, because it is easily mistaken as another line of the spell as opposed to part of the parent ability.

Any chance the writer might be able to offer a bit more detail on what to expect when it comes to Wonderworker? The description makes mention of hybrid spells and a magical creature animal companion, but what about spell access in general and the. other abilities of the class? Does it have good access to illusions, enchantments, and conjuration?

Hi Thomas. Author here. To answer your question (without giving too much away), the wonderworker is a spellcaster with perhaps the widest variety of spells compared to any other base class. Spell access should not be a concern. I hope this helps.

How is this balanced though? Both the Druid on the Wizard or considered by most to be the most versatile and powerful classes in the game.
