Horror Rules Book of Bad Guys #1

Meet Some Brand New Bad Guys...

Sure you love to terrorize and destroy your players (who doesn't?!). But sometimes do you find that the zip of mass mayhem isn't quite as zippy? Well, fear not! We know EXACTLY what you need - BRAND NEW BAD GUYS!!

The first installment in a long-awaited line of supplements for Horror Rules, the Simply Horrible Roleplaying Game, the Book of Bad Guys #1 is a big, bold collection of ten completely original, brand-spanking-new Bad Guys ready to crawl up out of the sewer, swamp or nightmare and onto your gaming table. You won't find tired, warmed-over old critters like werewolves and zombies, either, but ten never-before-seen and totally creeperific baddies designed to terrify, possess, torment, devour and otherwise bring harm to your players. Armed with this supplement, you'll be prepared to unleash such terrors as the "Black Thought," the "Ravenous Shadow," the "Vine Killer" and the sinister, diabolical (and ever-popular) "Leroy Jenkins!"

We Made 'Em, You Unleash 'Em

Each Bad Guy includes all the official Horror Rules stats (Health, Grip Check, Attacks, Powers, Vulnerabilities, etc.) as well as a description and enough background info to give you plenty of seeds for working up a whole adventure script. Of course, if you like, you could just unleash the beasts on your players without the benefit of a story and watch the mayhem ensue. The choice is yours. And, although designed for Horror Rules, each critter could easily be adapted to any other modern or fantasy setting. What more could you want?!

Scare Aids!

Okay, so let's say you DO want more. No prob, we gotcha covered! Also included in this supplement is a helpful Scare Aids section, featuring specially sized and formatted pictures of each Bad Guy so you can print them out and use them as a visual aid in your game. Scare Aids have no stats or names and allow you to display the critter without having to fold pages in your book or try to cover up stats. Why? Because SHOWING is scarier than TELLING!! So get out there and start scaring!

Side effects may include character mutilation, insanity, freezing, fleeing, melting, being torn limb from limb, uncontrollable screaming, disembowling, psychotic episodes, catatonia or pant-wetting.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
