The Diamond Devil
Phillipo Drochopolis was the scion of a wealthy family of diamond merchants. While putting down a strike at a family-owned diamond mine, Phillipo met and struck a deal with a devilish creature who promised the young merchant a long life and endless riches.
As with most devilish bargains, the outcome did not favor the mortal participant. Phillipo turned into a horrible creature, sprouting appendages and hoary growths of diamonds and other precious gemstones and metals. He was shunned by his family, and by society as a whole. After a period of brief madness, Phillipo took the moniker Archadamus and retreated to live in solitude.
