Starfleet Needs A New Crew!

Welcome to your new assignment, Captain. Your continuing mission, to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before…

Star Trek Adventures takes you to the Final Frontier of the Galaxy, where new discoveries await keen explorers of Starfleet. Your duties may take you to the edges of known space, or to Federation colonies in need, to the borders of neighbouring galactic powers or into the eye of interstellar phenomena. Your ship and your crew epitomise the best Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets has to offer, and you are needed more than ever.

A new threat looms from across the Gamma Quadrant, as it is confirmed by Commander Sisko and his crew that the Dominion, led by the Founders, represent a significant threat to the Alpha Quadrant. Tension is already high in the region of Bajor and Deep Space 9, as the Maquis continue to act against the Cardassian-Federation peace treaty, with Captain Janeway and the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager preparing for their mission in the Badlands. It is a volatile time for the Federation and new crews have never been in higher demand.

• Create your own Star Trek stories of discovery and adventure on the Final Frontier with 368 pages of content. Full colour PDF.

• Complete 2d20 game system from Modiphius Entertainment adapted for Star Trek Adventures, used in Mutant ChroniclesConan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of, John Carter of Mars and the Infinity RPG.

• Guidelines for Gamemasters old and new, on how to run an adventure of exploration and discovery for the crew of a Federation starship.

• A full catalogue of aliens and antagonists including Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, the Borg and the Dominion.

• Brought to you by a team of expert Star Trek writers including writers from previous editions of Star Trek roleplaying games and other gaming talent.

It would be great if there was layers so that you were be able to "uncheck" the pictures in the printer friendly PDF.
The pictures is killing my printer, even in the printer friendly version. =(

I would love to hear what anyone has done to make a Klingon, Ferengi, and Android race specifically on Attributes, Traits and Talents. Thanks.

Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Ferengi, Borg, Jem'Hadar, and Vorta traits and attribute modifiers can all be found in the Adversaries chapter.

There's enough info in the core book to make Klingons and Ferengi. Just use the given Attribute bonuses (in the sidebar). You don't have to choose a species-specific talent. If you really want one, look at what's common to the NPCs for each species.

Thank you, right after I posted this I saw that section with a lot of the races. Like Klingons could get +1 to, Daring, Fitness and Presence. This is so cool!!!

You may want to do something for Roll20.net as well. Often a game publisher will ensure that an interactive character sheet is designed (in HTML/CSS script) to have dice-rolling buttons built-in to the sheet, and stored into Roll20's GitHub account. That's the minimum to help people start a game in that system. When they start a game-area for a campaign, they are asked what character-sheet to link to the campaign, and an automated sheet like this is pretty much a must.

Loving it so far, but I do have a complaint about the printer friendly version. It would be great if you would also make the sidebar text black, as well. The lighter colors make it very difficult to read when printed. Thanks!

You left out the ability to use ships from the Enterprise series, the NX-01, the early Klingon Scout schip, the D-6 and the early Romulan Bird of Prey not to mention the Suliban and their ships.

Sadly you can't include everything, there will be many more ships in the Command Division book and then other Non-Federation ships in the Quadrant books (related to the races in them)

I like the game, but find navigating the PDF a bit frustrating at times. A number of the links from the table of contents do not take you the appropriate place (for instance, if you click on "Reporting for Duty," you're taken to "Operations,"; if you click on "Starships," you're taken to "Alien Vessels"). You have to learn what those are, click on something, then move up or down to where you want to be. There are also more typos than I would want to see in a published work. I would very much appreciate it if Modiphius would fix these errors and make the corrected PDF available for those of us who have already purchased.

I was hoping it would have playing in TOS. It seems to be ST;TNG, Voyager, DS9 based. I have not had to review the system just felt it should have had TOS.
Customer avatar
Edward L July 07, 2017 8:40 pm UTC
It has rules for playing TOS series games, as well as enterprise era games (though god knows who that would be), it is just styles after the aesthetics of the in the middle of the TNG, DS9 and Voyager series'.

There are rules for 22nd century ships in there, for player characters, as well as for Klingons and Romulans as NPCs. I should know, I wrote them.

Maybe I am missing it, where are the stats for TOS Klingons and the ships, all I found were ST:TNG stats. Also as a side note I have difficulty trying to read the various colour texts, switching between Pink, light blue, and black especially when all are on the same page. An option for all one colour text would be nice, just a thought for future reference.

The rules completely support the 23rd century, and it's not like the era was ignored in the opening fluff, either. A short chapter on the 23rd century, aptly entitled "The Twenty-Third Century," begins on page 37. There's a sidebar taking a third of page 42 describing roleplay in the era. This is on top of everything else the others in this discussion have told you.

Sadly. yes. Lots and lots and lots of typographical errors, and what's worse, hideously awkward phrasings and punctuation errors all over the shop. Some sections are well written, but others are so bad that it seems no skilled editor came anywhere near them.

I'm not trying to be a troll here, either. I think the system, particularly as concerns character creation, is wonderful for Star Trek. Seriously: I've been interested in roleplaying in the Trek universe since Last Unicorn's Next Generation game dropped in 1998, and Modiphius's 2d20 as modified for Star Trek Adventures is the first engine I've seen that allows players to create characters who possess both the wide range of personalities/backstories and the impressively diverse competencies of characters from the TV shows. The way in which Attributes, Disciplines, Foci, Values, Talents, et alles intersect is authentically ingenious and wonderfully genre-appropriate. And while I'm not generally a fan of lifepath-based character generation, the one...See more

I hope to get this when print copies release. But on the "lifepath" model, it's one of the things I liked about the old FASA Star Trek RPG. (Though it was more of a "career path" than lifepath, it did it's job.

This lifepath models both early life and parts of your career. You end up with a character that feels like they came out of the shows.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
