Join gamemaster Brendan Cass and Half-Orc zealot Kainara (Chris Leong), Human psychoturge Sophos (Jesse Roy), Antaean monster hunter Azdrubaal (Clint Staples), Cynocephalian entertainer/illusionist Anpo (Michael O. Varhola), and Human peltast Gideon (Nils Wiklund) for an exciting Hekaton RPG adventure set in the Aegean island city of Kos! This title is pay-what-you want and the requested payment is 1 cent.

In this session, our party of low-level vagabonds are recruited by the local Guild of Beggars, Locksmiths, Exterminators, and Guides to provide security for an important shipment as it is transported from the port to the Turanan Industries warehouse complex. Things, naturally, do not go as planned, and highlights in the events that follow include savage Kainara and giant Azdrubaal confirming why no one wants to get hit by them; Sophos engaging in some mind control; Anpo demonstrating his mastery over light and shadow; and Gideon breaking a chain with a heroically-cast javelin.

You can watch the show right here, but downloads associated with this listing include an MP3 audio version that you can use to listen to it on mobiles devices and a PDF that includes a link to where it appears at d-Infinity Online game magazine, where you are also welcome to take part in the discussion on this episode and post any comments or questions related to this session that you might have.

Hekaton is a self-standing independent role-playing game created by Brendan Cass and currently being playtested and refined by the Skirmisher Game Development Group. It is set in the world of Skirmisher Publishing’s Swords of Kos Fantasy Campaign Setting, a swords-and-sorcery milieu set in a Dark Ages fantasy version of the Mediterranean a century after a Great Cataclysm destroyed the old world, plunged it into chaos, and reawakened magic and all form of ancient races and monsters. Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
