Ultimate Covenant Magic

In 2013, David N. Ross wrote Legendary Classes: Covenant Magic for Purple Duck Games.

At the time, Endzeitgeist said, "My final verdict would be 6 stars, if I only could - hence, 5 stars + seal of approval and a high chance that this will feature on my Top Ten of 2013-list."

Since then Julian Neale expanded the series with two support products: More Covenant Magic and Covenant Magic: Further Covenants

Now David N. Ross has returned to Purple Duck Games to compile, correct, and expanded the work into Ultimate Covenant Magic.

Within Ulitimate Covenant Magic you will find:

  • Two base classes, the covenant mage (replacing the medium) and the dervish.
  • Over 30 influences for covenant mages and 30 dervish paths.
  • Over 25 archetypes for core class and our base classes.
  • Over 30 least covenants, 30 minor covenants, 30 major covenants, 25 greater covenants, 15 superior covenants.
  • Over 15 feats, 10 traits, 3 drawbacks, 10 spells, and 8 universal mythic abilities
  • Background generators for covenant mages and dervishes.
  • Campaign advice for including covenant magic
  • Over 15 sample NPC and PC characters
  • 160 pages of collected and expanded content

Is this actually compatible with 1e? I can't tell from my reading if this was designed for this system or Purple Duck's homebrew system?

This was written using PF 1e as the base ruleset.

Am I missing something or is the Hit Dice limit chart for Seances not in the book at all? I downloaded the book today and couldn't find it anywhere, so I ended up looking for it and finding it on the D20PFSRD website. Just figured I would post here in case anyone else is aware of a possible oversight, or if anyone can correct me and show me where the chart is.

If you have the other 3 books will there be a discount for getting this book?

Just as a short shout-out to anyone who owns the previous books and is on the fence about buying this one as well: go for it. The conversion from the Medium to the Covenant Mage alone is worth most of the cost of the purchase.

I suspect it will likely go into distribution. I have a couple process things I need to work out on POD first.

Is there an estimate of when a POD would become available? Like "this month" or "this season" or "this year".

With the announcement of PF 2.0 it is unlikely that Ultimate Covenant Magic will go into distribution.

It is possible that a POD version could exist this spring. There are a couple things I need to do to make that happen. Those pieces could come together this week (and then a proof would need to be ordered).

I see that covenant.magic in this iteration doubled up in size. Is it all new contents added?

All three volumes have been combined into a single tome plus a ton of new content has been added.

David also went back, rebalanced a few things, updated spell lists and cleaned up some errata.

It is truly the final definitive form of covenant magic now.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
