Iron Stone Map Tiles

Thick iron bands and chunky rivets hold together rust-stained concrete slabs in the Iron Stone Map Tiles pack of art assets. A package of ready-made art assets for Game Master who enjoy creating their own adventure maps for their players to explore. Craft your own grungy dungeon, a monster's lair, or a nefarious criminal hideout. The kind of adventure map you design, is up to you.

The map tiles art assets from Studio WyldFurr are designed to depict blocks of terrain, such as the floor of a cave, an area of grass, or where the floor meets a wall. Each of the tiles is provided so that Game Masters can assemble the ready-made elements on a digital canvas to form an adventure map that can then be imported into the virtual tabletop App of your choice, such as Fantasy Grounds, FoundryVTT, Roll20, or D20Pro. The map tiles have a unique look-n-feel as each element is a combination of photographic source material combined with hand-drawn artwork.

Art Assets - Raw Image Files Edition

This edition of the Iron Stone Map Tiles pack is designed for use by Game Masters who love building their own maps, and want access to a toolbox of ready-made artistic material rather than the hassle of designing their own material from scratch. The map tiles within this package were designed to act as a library of art assets that you could simply just drag-n-drop onto a digital canvas to form a map. The package contains many raw image files in JPG, PNG, and WEBP file formats. These image files form the building blocks which you can assemble into the form of a dungeon, fortress, monster lair, or whatever kind of adventure map structure you desire.

Simply start with a blank canvas inside the graphics editing program of your choice, for example, Photoshop, Gimp, or Affinity Photo (we recommend Gimp as it is Free and has a small learning curve). Then start drag-n-dropping each art asset onto the blank canvas to start building up your adventure map. Build the map, block by block until you have filled the map canvas. Then export an image of your entire adventure map as a JPG or WEBP, and import the adventure map image into the virtual tabletop App of your choice, such as Fantasy Grounds, FoundryVTT, Roll20, or D20Pro. Begin roleplaying! Once your adventure map has been created, add the final touches by dressing your empty map rooms with furniture, props, and objects.

If you are still unsure how to use the Map Tiles from Studio WyldFurr, we have tutorials and Livestream examples on our YouTube Channel that can show you how we use the Map tiles to build adventure modules.

Map Tile Scale

Studio WyldFurr's range of virtual tabletop tokens and Map Tiles art assets all make use of a standard scale of three on-screen pixels per real-world inch, giving us a 5ft map grid square size of 180 pixels.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
