Monkey II, son of Sun, leaps a dozen yards up to the treetops, knocking down a dozen imperial soldiers as he goes. Hitomi draws her katana, seeing an opportunity to defend her lord - to succeed here where she failed in life. She's devoted her ghostly existence to Arya, exile Naga King and sorcerer of the Black Mandala.
Me? I can see General Lao commanding his thousand troops and make for him, striding through the bamboo shadows. Ignore me; I'm just the ninja.
Asiatic Adventures (AA) is a genre supplement for Quick20 that focuses on heroic action gaming in settings that reflect Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian cultures. AA chooses fantasy over history and brevity over nit-picking detail, drawing from literature, action cinema and sheer invention to give gamers access to fun, fast-paced game sessions. It also assumes that you'll fill in the details with your own research and imagination. We trust players and GMs to make AA their own.
Here's what you get from this 10 page supplement:
- Races: Play a descendant of the dragons, an elemental spirit person, a wily animal trickster, a heroic ghost or an earthly demon!
- Heroic Action: Use Contests of Will to dominate an enemy, or Heroic Timing to simulate the tense sword duels of samurai fiction. Or cut through legions of spear-carrying Bannermen in the finest traditions of wuxia mass combat. These rules even include modified movement systems for the amazing leaps and floating steps of cinema and legend.
- Energetic Powers: Qi, ki or prana, internal energy is a feature of Asian fantasy. This section expands on Quick20's class abilities to allow for "internal strength."
- The Way: Special rules let you dedicate your character to a code to reap the rewards -- and bear the burdens.
This is not a stand-alone product. It requires Quick20
to play. However
