Dark Ages: Vampire

Auf die Wunschliste >

The Long Night is Over

The diablerie of Saulot, the waking of Mithras, the destruction of Michael the Patriarch, the return of the Dracon - it all means the time of reflection is over. The Inquisition stirs and the time to act is now. Across Europe, monarchs of the night set princes and barons at each other's undying throats. Young vampires take to the field ready to claim their domain and become powerful lords in their own right. Blood calls to blood.

The War of Princes Begins

The Dark Medieval is a very different time than the modern Final Nights. Cainites group in clans high and low, swear fealty to ancient vampiric monarchs and follow their roads of enlightenment in the same way mortals do religions. Ashen priests and princes face off in a violent world lit only by torches and fear. Dark Ages: Vampire is your complete guide to this time.

Note: The Black & White print editions of this book are not full-bleed. Because of printing requirements there is a small white border around the edge of the pages.

Okay - probably a silly question but are these books and others like Dark Ages Werewolf or Fae compatible with Vampire Dark Ages 20th?
I want to expand.

Thanks
Todd

they're only compatible in the broadest sense, and more thematically than mechanically.

this is 'updated' from the "Dark Ages: _____" line, which was itself a revision of the original-but-incomplete dark ages 'line' which consisted of only "Vampire: the Dark Ages" and "Werewolf: the Dark Ages". Those two earliest items have a starting year of 1197; this line has a starting year of 1230: the 20th anniversary line has a starting year of 1242.

When will this title be available in print again? I purchased a soft cover a few years ago and would like to purchase another. The quality has been excellent I just want a second copy for the group. Thanks!

So big problem is that Dark Ages: Fae requires this book to play it even though it's essentially it's own line. Not having this as PoD is terrible.

I'm facing the same problem. I want to run a Fae game and can't do it because I need this one and it's so expensive.

There used to be a PDF for the core Dark Ages rules WITHOUT the Vampire rules. Ideally, they'd release THAT as a POD.

Where is the PoD option?! I had it on wishlist and I was going to buy it when all of a sudden there is only the pdf.

Vampire: The Dark Ages is the first core rulebook launched. This, Dark Ages: Vampire, is a new edition, with a later timeline, and new rules.

How does it compare with V20 Dark Ages?

Besides the difference in the rules and the timeline, the feel and theme of those two games is very different. In Vampire: The Dark Ages the theme is Gothic Horror and quite often pure Horror and the world works as a sandbox. There are no fixed organizations and princes and stuff like that. The GM can create whatever he/she wants and the atmosphere is dark and heavy. In Dark Ages: Vampire the theme is Dark Fantasy, moving away entirely from the Horror genre. Everything goes global, same as in Vampire the Masquerade, contrary to medieval culture of that age. Clans are separated to High and Low and most of them belong to specific political Courts. The game imitates too much human medieval organization. It's a total different game from different creators. My vote most definitely goes for the first game.

Stay as far as you can from DAV20! It's a total new game from an entire new team of designers. It's Vampire the Masquerade in medieval times and while i love the former game, DAV20 sucks big time! Also the art is pretty bad for a horror game and has way too much information even for stupid things such as African clans than never got published in a Dark Ages supplement. This anniversary book sold the least of all the anniversary books. Once people found out what happened with the game, they run away from it and for a good reason!

Eingescanntes Buchformat
