220+ descriptions to breathe life into your underground world.

Bring new life to all your dark places with the "Bits of Darkness" Bundle. It includes both "Bits of Darkness: Dungeons" and "Bits of Darkness: Caverns," totalling over 220 shadowy descriptions to energize your adventures. These are "on the go" products, which means you don't need to read the entire work before you can use them. The descriptions are designed to be randomly generated as you play or placed with malice aforethought, and are written to be of use to both experienced and inexperienced Game Masters, particularly those who (for whatever reason) find themselves short on time or creativity.

Never again be forced to tell a player, "The room is just empty." Instead, whip out Dungeon Bit #47 and read, "You come across a backpack that appears to have been ripped open by a clawed hand and teeth. Its worthless contents have been scattered around, torn, and trampled..." and so on, painting a picture to add spice and interest to your dungeon, crypt, or other dark place. Essentially, nothing has changed. There is still effectively nothing there, but it is no longer "just another empty room!" Or use a Cavern Bit for details on stalactites, stagnant pools, and other subterranean delights.

Each of the two products includes 100 of the descriptions in index-card format, for easy use by the GM during game play. Bonus material is also included, such as an article on fantasy caving, two new Swarms, and a handful of descriptions of catacombs, just in case.

Bits of Darkness products use material from the SRD, but could be used in any fantasy setting with very minor modifications. These are part of the "Harried Game Master" line of products, providing the materials we've always wished to have.

I've been running a game of D&D since the early 70's and am I ashamed. This excellent product has shown me how jaded and bland my adventures have become. I think this is the most useful and imaginative product I have yet purchased on this site. No [...]

The skinny: Tabletop Adventures' Bits of Darkness Bundle contains the 'Bits of Dakrness: Caverns' and 'Bits of Darkness: Dungeons' products, both of which combined comprise about 65 pages of information and 200 'bit' cards altogether. Each page is jam [...]

An excellent gaming aid, empty caverns and dungeon rooms will never be the same (and any room or location that seems a bit bland). The only thing I dislike about it is the d20 element in some of the Bits but it is still usable with any fantasy RPG with [...]

Since I originally posted my review of this product, Tabletop Adventures has released a revised version of this product that resolves the ?cut & paste? problems. I cannot commend Tabletop Adventures highly enough for resolving these issues. It is [...]

Overall this is a very sound product that gives GMs easy access to bits of narrative to spice up any cavern or dungeon. The narrative is written in such a manner that the descriptions could be easily incorporated into any setting. <br><br> [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
