The Corporations control the world from their skyscraper fortresses, enforcing their rule with armies of cyborg assassins. On the Street, Boostergangs roam a shattered urban wilderness, killing and looting. The rest of the world is a perpetual party, as fashion-model beautiful techies rub biosculpt jobs with battle armored roadwarriors in the hottest clubs, sleaziest bars and meanest streets this side of the Postholocaust. The Future never looked so bad.

But you can change it. You've got interface plugs in your wrists, weapons in your arms, lasers in your eyes, bio-chip programs screaming in your brain. You're wired in, cyberenhanced and solid state as you can take it to the fatal Edge where only the toughest and coolest can go. Because you're CYBERPUNK.

Cyberpunk: the original roleplaying game of the dark future; a world of corporate assassins, heavy-metal heroes and brain burning cyberhackers, packed with cutting edge technology and intense urban action. Within this book, you'll find everything you need to tackle the mean streets of the 2000's -- in a game system that combines the best in realistic action and playability.

Excellent! R. Talsorian Games went through this (and most of their other products) and added bookmarks. Some products seem to have improved scans; not sure if there needed to be an improvement in the core rulebook.
The "Cyberpunk 2077" tabletop RPG is still a project in progress, but this 1990 game is well worked-out and a solid experience. But There Will Be Numbers. Also there are some anachronisms: computers were hard-wired (there was no WiFi envisioned in the game), phones are flip-phones, newspapers come out of a box like a fax, and the Soviet Union is still a thing!
Also, Netrunning (computer hacking) can consume a lot of time in the game, leaving non-Netrunner characters idle with nothing to do. Learn the rules cold and storm through it, is my best advice.
High tech, low morals. Get on with it!

Just purchased this PDF and I'm seeing nothing in the way of bookmarks. Are these in the future or a feature we've got to take care of ourselves?

File last updated September 19th. Is that the update that added bookmarks? What other changes were made, if any? I'm very interested in this game but the quality of the scan gives me pause. It's not bad per se, I'm just really OCD about it

The last update only added bookmarks. Nothing else was changed.

I discovered this book only e few years ago, but I'm still impressed how well it works regarding how old it is. I have to admit, that I simplify a lot of rules to increase the pace and keep the focus on the plot. It certainly deserves an update, especially regarding hacking. But overall, I definitely recommend trying it if you want a Cyberpunk classic with an 80s touch and a deadly system. And not a single elven mage.

For any one wanting to buy a Talsorian Cyberpunk rulebook, this is the version to get. The general consensus on the 'Net is that CP2030 isn't quite Cyberpunky as it should be; instead, buy this version.

I read through the character creation and had a blast creating two characters (more or less 50 pts.), a posergang called the "Kartrashians", and ended up in the late night at a restaurant diddling up a new character, Tenno, at 59 points, a Warframe dude with MetalGear armor, MonoKatana, a pistol, and a sniper rifle.

So far, so good! If I had any Rippers, I'd sign the front of their beautiful company sign with my name. My proper stamp of approval and no chombatta, boosterganger, coppo, or any ne'er-do-well ain't going to stop me!

I wish Talsorian Games Inc. introduced a few more out-of-print items such as Data Screen, the GM Ref Screen (as found on Tabletop Talk), and more in print-on-demand options such as softcover or hardcover. If Talsorian would print every...See more

The front and back covers have been added in a recent update.

This is all very good stuff! I had taken the plunge before then and bought the rulebook .pdf and a few other supplements. A well-oiled rules system! This game held the interest of my players, especially since I "futurized" my home-city, and I could run my longest-ever weekly campaign in a very, very fickle RPG player market.

Very good. Your efforts of long ago have not been forgotten. This gets my Bloody Killer-Robot Claw-Print of Approval!

Any chance you can fix the index on this please? It is completely unusable currently.

It's a shame that the printed page numbers don't match up with the PDF page numbers either, though I guess that will always be a problem, unless you moved the first pages to the back of the PDF, moving the front page & credits would be a minor issue compared to regaining correct page numbers !

Thanks for the update, I guess removing the index is better than leaving it as-is, but it would be really nice to have an index... Moving the back page to page 2 has just put all the page numbers out by another 1 though.

PDFs can be given different page numberings.
Some have the cover numbered "i", then the second page of the PDF (page 1 of the book) is numbered "1".

So were the problems in this .pdf release fixed? Take note that the cut off text on p. 98 is not a typo, since it continues after the p. 99 tables and the text resumes on p. 100.

That's great. With errata corrections from the original, this makes it the Perfect Game, one of my absolute faves and one I could run my longest campaign on.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
