Description:

Six Centuries ago, the great Krakodonian capital of Dazu was destroyed, and with it the heart and soul of the Krakodonian empire. Since then, the race has fallen apart, with warring clans struggling for dominion over each other. The once great empire has been carved into fiercely defended territories. But factions are forming that seek to rebuild the empire anew, and new battle lines are drawn to see who will earn the right to reclaim the lost city, and with it command of the race.

Neiyar: The Ruins of Dazu, takes you into the heart of the former capital. The Shaman, astrologers, and Wise Ones have been receiving visions of a strange orb somewhere in the ruins, and they believe it may be the key to forever vanquishing the mighty dragon that prowls the ruins and thus reclaiming the city. But is the orb truly the key to victory, or is something else in play?

Explore the once great capital. Fight against the monsters that lurk within the shattered walls. Outwit other clans that are also seeking the orb. And above all else, avoid the great dragon that prowls the area, for he will not take kindly to those who seek to remove a treasure from his domain.

This adventure is presented with three different launching scenarios.

Scenario I: Designed for a party comprised of all Krakodons, the village Shaman sends the party into the ruins not to find the orb, but to discover its true origins. Something is not right with the visions that have been received, and the Shaman fears other forces are at work.

Scenario II: For a party comprised of Krakodons and/or Outsiders. Clan Hoshok’ril of Nissuno wants the orb for its own, but not to destroy the dragon. If the orb is powerful enough to destroy the great dragon, then perhaps it could also be used to vanquish the terrible Green Death, a sea monster than has so far thwarted all efforts to sail off of the island. The orb could be the key to liberating the entire island and opening the seas safely.

Scenario III: For a typical adventuring party on the island. The Order of Mastery has heard rumors of a portal deep in the ruins of Dazu, but has been unable to access it because of the dragon. If the orb is somehow tied to the dragon, can it also be used to access the portal? And if so, where does the portal lead?

This adventure is designed for characters level 8th through 12th and requires the Neiyar: Land of Heaven and the Abyss campaign setting.

Though it says it is for levels 8th to 12th, I don't know if I would use this with 8th or 9th level PCs unless those PCs are really twinked out. Most of the encounters are easily scaleable, but the final encounter might be a bit too much for 8th or 9th [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
