Blackwolf Manor

Blackwolf Manor lies on the narrow run of land between the river and the city walls. This stretch of prime waterfront real estate is home to a mix of high-class shops, storehouses, and the occasional residence. The 'manor' was built by Nickolai Blackwolf a century ago - before the nearby port grew into a bustling city. While the estate has been sold off piecemeal over the years, the old house is still called a manor and is home to last of the Blackwolf family.

This issue presents a detailed map of an urban two-story house, its outbuildings, and courtyard. To facilitate use with miniatures, the map has a 1 inch grid built into the artwork. Descriptions are given for the house and its inhabitants - ready for customization to your story and system of choice. With ample guest rooms and an attached stable, the house would serve as an excellent home for a group of adventurers. There is easy access to the city and a private dock out back. Part of the storehouse has even been converted into barracks for up to ten followers of any sort.

This product includes the following:

  • An overview of the location and its occupants.
  • Full color, miniature-scale map broken into 9 pages for easy printing.
  • Black and white versions of the map pages.
  • A 24x36 inch poster image at 1 inch = 5 feet scale.
  • A version of the poster map with no text or spoilers.

*A demo document, with print-previews of the books and a full-resolution sample page, is available at 0-hr.com

As a home between adventures, or the location of the adventure itself, Blackwolf Manor can help bring your game to life. When its time to play, Zero Hour cartography is ready!

Words fail me for how good the 0-hr maps are. I own all the fantasy ones, and printed them off back in the days before VTT. While I only used Blackwolf Manor once or twice, it was still a great map to have if you need to face off against an evil undead [...]

Well structured map. Good visuals. Might have been more helpful to give a "head on" view from street level for sharing with PCs, but that's just a suggestion not a quibble. Price is a bit high, but the details in the mapping justify it. [...]

Great artwork, well thought out and a BARGAIN at $3.95. A great setting for your PCs to visit or even own. Zero Hour Fantasy settings are among the best out there - I just wish Ryan would create some adventure/dungeon battle maps. I'd buy them all!! [...]

The artwork is as good as ever. The manor is not something that I would use often but it would appear to be realistic enough. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
