Every good ship needs a strong name, in fact, it’s bad luck to sail a ship that doesn’t have a name or to rename a ship that has already sailed. Besides, what is the party’s lookout going to yell when their arch nemesis comes into view - “Bad ship off the port side?”

For this reason and because giving names to your world’s ships makes it feel more like a living world, your friends here at Healing Fireball Publications have created a group of tables suitable for naming all the ships in your world. From the darkest pirate vessel to the traders just trying to make a living to the stout military vessels defending their borders, you will find a name to suit all your needs. This collection of three tables contains 50 ship names designed for use with either pirate ships, merchant vessels or military ships. This product also contains a short list of common ship prefixes, such as SS, LB and HMS as well as their meanings, to put in front of the generated name to give it a more seaworthy feel.

Product is 2 pages, plus cover.

Now an Even Better Value: This product has been updated to include two new bonus pages containing six new tables.  Each of these six tables is designed as a two-column mix-and-match table that will allow you to generate a ship name based around a common theme.  Each of the tables has a different theme and together they can produce a myriad of ship names suitable for any type of ship, whether a pirate vessel, merchant ship or part of an organized navy.  This product also includes another 23 common ship prefixes including several different prefixes used by Japan, Germany and Italy before, during and after WWII.  All this plus the original tables that contain 150 individual ship names and it still only costs 50¢.

This product is also available as part of the A Pirate Life for Me! [BUNDLE]

Sometime after I posted my initial review of this product, HFP updated the product with half a dozen--I kid you not--additional tables, well more than doubling the utility of this collection. The added tables are two-column ship name generators, that [...]

I've recently started a maritime D&D campaign, so I bought this set of Two Bit Tables for the purpose of--yeah, you guessed it--coming up with ship names without having to think too hard. I have to confess I'm a little disappointed in this installment [...]
