Flashing bladework, brave warriors, martial mastery, wise priests, honor, stealthy assassins, demons, magicians, spirits, war -- the stuff of Legends, the Legends of Japan. BUSHIDO is a role playing game that allows you to adventure on the Misty Isles of Nippon.

Players in BUSHIDO design their characters to suit the profession they choose. A skill system is used to determine the character's success in both martial and peaceful endeavors.

Take a break from the Western European and sample the mysterious world of the Far East. Try adventuring in a world where a man's honor and fame are as important as the number of foemen he has slain.

Come follow the code of the Samurai, the Way of the Warrior. BUSHIDO!

The night was dark and the road deserted, as a lone traveler moved toward the lights of the village lower on the mountainside. He was Tokasi Benkai, samurai and warrior. Gold glinted from the fittings of his katana.

The woods hid their shadows. They were bandits, and hungry. They were also five to his one. They attacked.

The first went down as the samurai made his Iai draw. The second fell under a pear-splitting stroke of the katana. The third and fourth were more cautious, but also were sent onward by the warrior's flashing sword. Tokasi flicked the blood from his blade and turned to face the last.

The bandit was also a swordsman, as could be seen by his stance. Tokasi knew that this man would not be an easy victory. But if it was his karma to die this night, Tokasi would meet death true to his code of . . . BUSHIDO.

What can I say? This is a classic. The game system will be familiar to anyone who has played aftermath! or Daredevils. [...]

I played Bushido back in the 80’s and loved it. As the other reviewers have noted the layout of the books is not great, but once you learn to navigate the content you will find one of the best RPGs ever written. The mechanics are complex, but they [...]

Bushido is a game that I was aware of in the 80's when I was playing Ad&D and TMNT RPG. I was curious about it but never bought it or played it. So I decided to download it and try it out. The bottom line is this, Bushido is an awesome game. There [...]

Bushido is the seminal 'Samurai' RPG by FGU. FGU is noted for its attention to detail and the somewhat complex systems used to simulate its subject matter. Bushido is no exception, and its core system is detailed, complex, and not for the novice GM. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
