Ephemeris

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The year is 2185. The human race has gone to the stars, and found that they're not alone. Local space is teeming with civilizations, some hostile, some friendly, and some indifferent. This is the universe of Ephemeris.

Ephemeris is a game of galactic trade and galactic conquest; of inter-species conflict and cooperation. Ephemeris is a science fiction role playing game. Here you will be able to take on the role of your favorite alien species and your favorite class. You will be able to trade, fight, negotiate, conquer, whatever you'd like to do with your fellow players. You can play the role of an Althani Trader, or maybe an Arbonix Cyber Wizard, or maybe even a Human Nanist. You can create a party made up entirely of one species and set out to upset the trade routes of a rival species. Or maybe you want to create a party with a variety of species that preys upon the trading routes of the various civilizations. Or maybe you want to explore the ancient ruins on long dead planets, ruins that clearly show that there were other species roaming the spaceways in the past...but where are they now? You can fight in great wars, negotiate grand peace treaties, and explore sections of the galaxy that no sentient has ever explored. Or maybe your party has joined with one of the interplanetary corporations; corporations whose motives are never entirely clear. These are just some of the possibilities open to you.
The universe of Ephemeris is yours to do with as you please. What you now hold in your hands are the basic guidelines for the games. Here you'll find the races, classes, abilities, skills, weapons, and ships that allow you to create your own Ephemeris universe.

Now, step inside for the greatest science fiction adventure you've ever been on...

Be sure to pick up the free supplement, Ephemeris RPG Rule Changes, to see what we've added to the original rules.

For the past few days, I have soloed my way through Mission of Trade, or Mission of Mercy? (16 pages) It is an adventure for the Sci Fi RPG Ephemeris (332 pages). I did use six of the characters that are included in their First Level Character Supplement (131 pages).
To create the solo engine, I changed four lines in Dreamstate RPG.

The adventure started when the PCs heard about a mission, but first they had to get to that space station. The PC pilot did the hyperspatial calculations, but he messed it up (a bad roll). On his second attempt he messed it up again which damaged the jump engines. Repairs had to be made. He got yelled at by his boss. The third attempt was a success, but the jump put them next to a pirate ship. There was a ship to ship battle and the PCs won. They contacted the authorities and they showed up in record time. The PCs hoped for a reward, but that did not happen. The next jump brought them to the space station. They were successful at negotiating a better contract for...See more

The product line is confusing. I was considering buying everything. We're under quarantine and I'm buying games to pass the time. Yet, as I was adding items, I became aware of material that was duplicated. It is difficult to determine what products are redundant and what are the most recent.

It is now 2020. A 2013 Omnibus sounds old. Why would I want to add it to my cart? To get everything up to 2013? Yay!...no. Additionally, the first species compendium says it contains the original six species supplements; however, it intimates more material has been added beyond the original six race supplements. But then is says it just contains the original six race supplements. Wha?

But I don't give up easily...

I took a break in writing this to return to shopping and try again to figure out the product line... I'm an all-in kind of customer. That said, while I want it all, I don't appreciate redundant purchases. I scream in frustration and return to _this_ discussion....See more

We see your point. We will be making changes to the listings. The 2013 Bundle contained the core rulebook plus all of the supplements that had been published up to that time. Since then, we have been publishing the Ephemeris Encyclopedia Galactica, which will soon be coming out as one massive tome that contains all 61 sectors. The only other actual rule supplement that has been published since the Omnibus would be the Deep Space Species Compendium. Thanks for the comments.

Your sales are confusing. When will you put 'ALL' of your books, i.e. Scientist and Cyber Wizard at the same time?

Thank you.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
