Description:

THE AGE OF LEGEND
Before science, before history, an era of magic existed in our world's dim past. Magic flowed freely, touching every aspect of the lives of men and women of the Namegiver races. It was an age of heroes, an age of fantastical deeds and mythical stories. It was the Age of Legend. Now, bold heroes from across Barsaive band together to fight for life and freedom against the remaining Horrors and the oppressive Theran Empire, which seeks to bend the rebellious province again to their yoke. Through noble deeds and sacrifice, the heroes of the world forge Barsaive's future, arming themselves for their daunting task with powerful magical spells and treasures.

Earthdawn is a fantasy roleplaying game set in a world of high adventure, high magic, and terrible danger. The Player's Guide takes player characters from the First to Eighth Circle in their Disciplines and contains everything you need for years of play, featuring revised game mechanics, including hundreds of spells, talents, and skills, and much more!

The 3rd edition has both streamlined and clarified many aspects of the original Earthdawn rules, and with the alteration to the Discipline rules even player characters following the same Disciplines can be very different (e.g. it is now possible to play [...]

Overall, the Third Edition Player's Guide adequately explains the game mechanics for Earthdawn RPG. The Talents vs. Skills explanation could be written more clearly, with emphasis placed upon why a player would desire to choose a Talent over a Skill [...]

A land rich and strange, revisited in this Third Edition with the expected revisions and improvements to the rule mechanics while keeping the flavour of the game. Earthdawn is, of course, equally about setting as it is about the ruleset used to play there [...]

Bad: Non-d20, Non-Greyhawk, Non-boring.. oh wait, those are PLUSES!! I just started playing EarthDawn a few weeks ago and swore that I wasn't going to buy the book. The mechanics are weird with the steps and no classes. The setting was totally alien: [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
