Prepare to unleash your imagination... Assume the role of a mighty warrior, powerful wizard, or crafty rogue and explore ancient dungeons, catacombs, and ruins in search of treasure and glory. All you need is one or more dice, a pencil, and paper. Ideally, two or more friends can join your adventures, but you can also grab all the glory for yourself since it's playable as both a solitaire and multiplayer game.

The ENnie Award-winning Ancient Odysseys: Treasure Awaits! is designed as an introductory game that lets you start playing in less than 10 minutes. Choose which areas to explore, choose which monsters to attack, and choose how to dole out the treasure. Then proceed with your own adventures into the dark and dangerous depths, exploring either random catacombs or those you design yourself. Even if you're a veteran gamer, this new take on an old style of gaming will relieve your retro-fantasy cravings.

This PDF set includes

  • Three digest-sized rule books (Basic Play, Dungeon: In Search of the Lost Child, and Further Adventures)
  • Duplicate rule books for double-sided printing
  • Reference sheets
  • Blank sheets for adventurers and creatures

NOTE: The contents are the same as the boxed set (dice not included).

Expand this game with More Treasure Awaits!, which adds new options for play, from creating new types of adventurers and building landscapes to spending time in town and procuring goods to tackling new spells, traps, and creatures.

"This hands down has been a lot of fun for such a simple die mechanic. It skips the nonsense and gets to the actual play really quick."

"...man, oh, man, the simple design hides some depth... Absolutely awesome."

"Treasure Awaits has a laser focus on creating a breathtaking dungeon crawl and it is a direct hit."

If I buy the game directly from the Precis website, is the content of your game the same as what is published here?

I know the game was released years ago, but it looks like a very good game, I've been playing it for a few days now. Any plans to release a revision?

I have a small question about the first round of combat. I usually read turn as a round. Closest adventurers cannot attack close combat until after the first turn. Am I correct in thinking that they can't attack (close combat) until the second round of combat? If so, I assume this applies to enemies as well?

Correct. The first turn is for ranged combat only, as the characters/monsters must first get near enough to make close combat attacks.

Hi, just played the first ‘testrun’ with 3 more friend online (covid something something). It feels and play like a great game! But we have a few questions:
A) During combat turn: when do creatures attack?
B) During Traps turn: how does the damage effect? Does armour avoid damage?
C) When reading the chamber atmosphere text: does this effect goes before traps, creatures, treasures?
D) During combat turn: is a spell ranged?

Keep up the good work, we love this game so far (we pick it up from room 3 next time)

Hi.
A) They follow the same reaction rules as regular characters. Everyone acts in the order of greatest overkill on reaction tasks to lowest (see 15 of Basic Play). If the optional Minions rule is applied from Book 3, make just one roll for creatures.
B) If damage is applied, a regular damage roll is made (see page 23 of Basic Play).
C) Technically, read it first, but it may offer more surprise if read after dealing with potential traps.
D) Unless specified by a spell's description, they are not ranged, with casting being its own type of action.

I hope that helps. Thanks.

Oh! Spells aren't ranged? That changes things.
Can wizard spells be cast multiple times per day?

I gotta a question about initiative or reaction tasks: When do monsters roll their reaction tasks? Or do heroes always go first?

Hi. All player and non-player characters roll for initiative at the same time. Heroes do not always go first, but it would be OK to play that way if you prefer except for when the creatures surprise/ambush them.

Unfortunately, this site does not generate previews from zip files and off-site linking is not permitted here. This is available as a boxed set or pocket softcover through Precis Intermedia (softcover also available via amazon and other sources; the same goes for the More Treasure Awaits! add-on). Thanks.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
