Description:

The Priest

Pages: 7
Illustrations: 3
Game System: OGL 3.5

The OGL rules offer two core classes that specialize in organized religion: paladins and clerics. But why do all holy men have to be soldiers, clad in armor and wielding weapons? Most religious leaders from history were clad in robes, and drew power from their faith.

The priest is a 20-level core class for those heroes who are truly devout followers of their faith and do not spend any of their time learning military weapons or tactics. Like wizards and sorcerers, priests do not wear armor or use military weapons. Instead, they are armed with spells and spell-like abilities. They are powerful healers and formidable enemies of undead and demons. Priests often outrank paladins and clerics in the church hierarchy and usually rise to the highest levels of authority.

This product comes with two files, the onscreen version featuring plenty of artwork, and a printer-friendly version, designed to show mercy on your ink cartridge. Pick up this file today and bring some diversity and realism to your campaign setting!

Preview:

"While militant holy warriors such as paladins and clerics venture abroad to further the goals of the gods on the remote frontiers and on bloody battlefields, other devout members of the clergy work within the communities to change hearts and minds through more peaceful means. Priests strengthen and spread the influence of their deity by guiding, advising and protecting the members of their church.  Although they are not warriors, many priests are powerful adversaries of undead and demons. They are also mighty healers, commanding more magic than any cleric of similar skill.

However, not all priests are agents of benevolence and charity. Evil priests also exist. Hurling curses and destroying life, they follow wicked gods and malevolent philosophies. These ministers of darkness raise armies of undead and summon demons to plague mankind.

Priests are often revered among the lay people they shepherd and they act as intermediaries for the gods, guiding people through the troubles of their daily lives. Priests also provide council to powerful political leaders and sometimes take the reins of government themselves."

This file contains material that was originally released in the Heroes Handbook in 2003. It is presented here as a stand alone file that can be purchased on its own without the rest of the Handbook.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
