Combat Advantage #10: The Rawl
MSRP: $0.00

In the early days of human civilization, the rawl were plentiful and voracious. Sprawling across the open landscape, they claimed many of the premier locales needed by the humans to build their cities and they never feared to spill blood defending them. Without the advancements and knowledge of humans, however, they were quickly wiped out and forced to retreat into the mountainous hillsides of forbidden valleys. Today, they exist in small numbers and many explorers consider them a myth.

The rawl is a new player race designed for 4e. Huddled from the outside world by the mountains, they are brutal opponents sporting sharp blades of hair on their backs and arms. Slicing through armor and injecting their victims with twitching poisons, their solitude ha...

Combat Advantage #11: Gol
MSRP: $0.00

Who says orcs are just for the heroic level? No one ever told Gol or the legion of orcs following his powerful rise to infamy. CA11 presents Gol, a 22nd level sorcerer NPC, his pets (a rage wolf and a slash tusk boar), plus a horde of minions to round it all out.  And curious to try out a tiny PC? We've got five of them here, all thanks to the Not Suitable For Work (NSFW) contributors on EN World. Zip through the air on wings, crawl and hop across the battlefield, or climb on top of the fighter and swing your sword in glory - they're all 4E compatible and ready to duke it out with the big boys. Combat Advantage is a series of free 4E compatible articles providing new and unique aspects to the world's most popular roleplaying game....

Combat Advantage #12: Epic Talents
MSRP: $0.00

On July 29, 2008, we released our first edition of Combat Advantage with the idea of a free irregular release to showcase unique 4E concepts too small to sell on their own. In honor of this anniversary, we showcase what makes Combat Advantage for what it's become - epic!. Talents receive the epic treatment in the third and final part of the series on skill-based powers; we take a look back at the first CA for a second look at Power Knowledge; and there's a 5-page preview of Risen to whet your appetite. Includes a special offer to sign up for our EPIC Rewards program and earn 100 XP (not applicable to characters).

Combat Advantage #13: Dark October
MSRP: $0.00

Combat Advantage #13 is available now. Setting off the Dark October curse, it features "Ghosts of Tieflings Past," a variable-level encounter taking place on a haunted battlefield by Tim Rose; the morue, a race of ethereal creatures walking around in dead bodies by Todd Crapper; a preview of the chaostician from Risen; and an interview with Andrew Wilson from Silent 7 Games and author of Huxtropy. And it's completely FREE!!

Combat Advantage #14
MSRP: $0.00

The nights are getting longer and a chill seeps through the window. Winter looms in the sky, instilling a sense of dread in your heart. Dark times call for dark characters and Combat Advantage delivers.

CA14 brings you the darker side of 4E. Try your hand as a merc and work for the highest bidder (but leave your morals at the door), tap into your inner beast with the Beast Warrior multiclass barbarian/druid paragon path, and take on the fortitude of Blades, a Goblin Warlord with a penchant for spilling blood... your blood.

COMBAT ADVANTAGE is a free bi-monthly supplement for the 4th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. Offered individually or as part of a subscription from Emerald Press PDF Publishing.

Combat Advantage #15: Video Games and Amethyst
MSRP: $0.00

2010 starts with a bang from a flash grenade as we offer our BIGGEST ISSUE EVER!! 55 pages of completely free 4e goodies to suit more than just your fantasy D&D campaign.

For starters, we are embracing the comparison of 4e to video games by giving you MORE ways to incorporate those pixilated elements into your campaign. Fend off an invasion by the demon lord Bh'ouser or sample from his arcane concoctions of growth, flame throwing, and flight; failure need not be an option with the respawning powers of Sor'Lune, the Inn of Respite; take literal control of your combat by grasping hold of the Delightful Prism of Games; and pull off the ultimate button mash with action surges. Plus we've also got a review of the Night Reign Sneak Peek Co...

Combat Advantage #16: The 3 Rings of Cassia
MSRP: $0.00

Eternally spinning from a far corner of the Astral Sea, a bizarre dominion awaits. Three rings encircle a solar orb, each ring rotating around the orb in an endless cycle of motion. And when two rings pass over each other, incredible magic happens. Introducing our first mini-setting, The 3 Rings of Cassia, and the messenger specialist class. Learn about this wondrous planar locale for your campaign using any of the six realms or create a character using one of the four new races provided.

Plus we have TWO previews (the kapre from the upcoming Buan campaign setting by Nosfecatu Publishing and the Perilous Secrets of Wilford Manor for the Doombringer Saga by Neuroglyph Games), a review of Soundscapes and our Sketchbook with Martin Hanford.

Combat Advantage #8: The Celestial Champion
MSRP: $0.00

Long for the days of paladins warding off evil creatures with a holy word, summoning a blessed steed to their side, and standing as a beacon against the forces of the Lower Planes? There remains an order of paladins held to those tenets of old - the celestial champions.
Use this paragon path to add a nostalgic touch to your 4e paladin, including two new uses of the Channel Divinity feat and a ritual for calling down a celestial ride from the heavens. This edition also includes the opening theme for May's Not Suitable For Work and a letter from the Head Honcho on the condition of previous CAs.

Combat Advantage #9: The Revenant
MSRP: $0.00

Your character is going to die. There's very little you can do to avoid it, but you can make your death mean something... and rise again to crush your enemies.
Our ninth edition of Combat Advantage offers the revenant but not just as a revised monster. Presented as a "resurrection paragon path", this undead reincarnation allows you to bring back a deceased character with a vengeance. Brought back by powerful forces, the revenant must carry on his life quest to avenge his death and kill his enemies with new powers and path features providing bonuses against those who have wronged him with roleplaying opportunities galore.
Along with the revenant, CA9 presents an Open Call for Risen: The Guide to Resurrected Characters (due October 2009).
And don't forget, it'...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
