Gulbradda Skyrealm

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Gulbradda is an ancient skyrealm that has been inhabited for thousands of years.  The original settlers were coastal fishermen who likely discovered the island as it drifted near one of their settlements.  The obvious defensibility of living on a skyrealm made life aboard the floating island very appealing.  Careful planning by the inhabitants meant such concerns as water and food were rarely an issue.

Eventually the island drifted above the oceans controlled by the Dominion of Oolth.  The wonders of the skyrealm were harnessed by the ingenious Ichthyans who captured it and anchored it off the coastline of their own home island.  Craftsmen and wizards soon developed the island into a place of study and industry.  The surface was quickly populated by buildings devoted to worship of sky gods, construction of airships, and the raising of various exotic food animals.  When the catastrophic war with Venig finally ended, the skyrealm was cut free of its mooring chains and set adrift along the Old Coast.  For several decades Gulbradda meandered along the coastline and above inhabited areas.  Then, during one particularly horrible storm, the entire realm disappeared and has not been seen for many long years...

Arsenale Shipworks renders its maps in black and white with simple, yet detailed line drawings.  Our idea is to give you a thought provoking and inspiring encounter location without draining every drop of ink from your printer.  The relatively small file size also makes our maps ideal for importing into virtual tabletops!

This map set is designed to show the environment of a small Skyrealm covered in dozens of buildings.  Many of these buildings are available individually from Arsenale Shipworks, and many more are forthcoming.

For your convenience, plan and elevation maps have been included with indexed locations and without.  As an extra bonus a brief Index has been provided with a short description of each area.

Well I usually don't bother with doing a review below 4 stars unless I feel strongly about it. I gave this 3 stars but felt it just barely crossed the line into 3 stars territory. Take my critique with a grain of salt as admittedly I could be cheap or [...]

Arsenale Shipworks does a wonderful job with black and white maps of fantasy structures. Gulbradda Skyrealm contains two views from different angles of a small, floating medieval city with structures on multiple levels. It contains 35 named locations [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
