Valkyrie is a quarterly British roleplaying magazine dedicated to grass roots roleplaying, to use a clich?: 'by gamers for gamers'. Its content is predominantly scenarios, source material, optional rules etc with fairly minimal industry related content. Valkyrie does however have a good reputation for its honest, no nonsense reviews.
Valkyrie has regular columns on gaming advocacy, (by 'The Escapist's' Bill Walton) and 'dysfunctional' gaming, (by Critical Miss.com editor Jonny Nexus)).
Other regulars include Saint's and Sinners: 'Where gaming meets the real world!, Soldiers of Fortune, a figures review column and Battlelines - a section on SF/fantasy miniatures gaming with material this issue provided by i-Kore and also a preview of Privateer Press' IK Warmachine. Also featuring the popular, original comic strips 'Yamara' and 'Thrud the Barbarian'.
In issue 26:
* 'The Way of the Chocolate Ninja' is a tongue-in-cheek multisystem article introducing a ninja with a conscience (with stats for HKATII, Feng Shui and OtE)
* 'Tears of the Godi' for Ars Magica is an intrigue ridden scenario set in the lands of the Vikings
* 'Loose Cannon' is a Cyberpunk 2020 scenario in which the players are hired to stop an assassination by a drugged up, wired up rogue agent.
* 'Delicatesse' introduces a fighting school for 7th Sea designed for the ladies of high society.
* 'Cat and Mouse' for GURPS Ogre has the players hiding from a MkV Ogre in a hostile, AI controlled city.
* Plus: British scenario hooks for Adventure! and guidelines on how to run 'troupe' style campaigns.
