Four Delvers
by Johan V. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/17/2024 04:46:55

Exactly as advertised! For a dollar you get a simple but solid combat system, rules for AI and a good couple of scenarios with varying objectives and setups. Only drawback is that there's not real character customization, but in favor of getting the game out and played as quick as possible it's a small sacrifice.

Fun game!! Just a question - how come some of the monsters on the monster list have NO HP indicated? How do I deal with them?

Thank you so much Ernest…after all HP are gone, the model starts taking wounds from hits…thus, if it starts with no HP, it starts taking wounds from hits immediately without the HP buffer.

Mini-Medieval
by MARK S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/18/2023 10:15:56

A nice, light, and quick medieval skirmish game (as advertized)! I printed some top-down minis and used homemade 2-D terrain (rivers, lakes, towns, hills, and a fortress) and had this on the table very quickly. Battles are easy to run and play out quickly, especially if you stick to the recommended 4 (sometimes) units per side. As an added bonus, it gives you an excuse to chuck fistfulls of polyhedral dice (d4s all the way up to d12s). I especially love the Advantage/Disadvantage rules as a quick, elegant way to work in terrain and tactics like flanking without making the design too cumbersome.

The game is also very solo-friendley! I've got a Red vs. Blue solo campaign going right now and am suprised at how invested I've been. The warmongering Red Kingdom is ruthlessly conquering the Blue Kingdom's borderlands, and I find myself rooting for the underdog.

This game is a steal at $1.00! I've also purchased Muster This #1 and #2 but haven't had a chance to incorporate the expansion rules into my campaign yet, although the rules look like they will dovetail nicely with the base game. I typically prefer my wargames on the lighter side, but in my opinion this is EXACTLY what a skirmish miniatures game should be! Looking forward to more expansions and/or variants to this system.

Three Delvers
by Michael S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/05/2023 12:49:42

As a long time fan of Shootin Iron, I grabbed 3D as soon as I saw it posted. Another great game that will be at the top of my play list. Simple rules but tactically sound game system that is fun to play and has wide potential for expansion. Love the way encounters are structured. Really enjoy the addition of henchmen because the first question I had was Fighter, Archer, and Wizard but where was the Thief? With henchmen I have my thief and can tailor my group to fit the needs of the encounter they are undertaking. Beastiary is well done and provides a very good selection of the traditional foes you might meet. The special monster abilities give room for tailoring foes to meet the needs of your own encounters.

Really hope there are more suplements in the works!!! Now off to play some more and look at generating a few of my own encounters.

S&S: The Gatling Decision
by Paolo M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/19/2022 11:47:07

I wanted to do set up a one-shot to test a different game (Tiny Gunslingers) and at the same time see if my players would like a change of theme (western stories, with or without a bit of supernatural thrown in).

Even if it is written for another system, I finally selected this, not only for the price, but also because it was self-contained, and offered diverse "acts" showcasing classical Wild West events like train robberies and saloon brawls.

My players did not manage to complete it, but I was extremely happy with the adventure, and if you are looking for something to start a Western campaign this will fit the bill (it also offers an "excuse" for the party to meet and become friends).

Shotguns & Saddles Old School, Old West RPG
by A customer [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/29/2021 17:07:42

This is a complete game in 64 pages! It is a quick, rules-light (B/X D&D level), but detailed enough for a campaign. The author also wrote Wild West Cinema, and it is essentially the exact same game, translated to d20.

The game uses standard polyheral dice (d4-d6-d8-d10-d12-d20) and 12 attributes as de-facto skills. Attributes are used for skill resolution and determining movement speed, initiative, to hit, and hit die type. There are no classes, however you get a special ability every level which helps you to create unique characters (or emulate western archetypes). Characters are level based, with the expectation that they top out around level 5 or 6 (all characters start out 0-level, so really there are 6 or 7 levels).

It follows most of the rule theory from B/X or Swords & Wizardry, so if you know your OSR D&D, you've got this.

Equipment lists are short, but detailed. Weapons are grouped by type ("Long barreled pistol", "pocket pistol", "rifle", "shotgun" etc.) for damage, range, etc.

There are great rules for showdowns that make them deadly. Even a 5th level character could be killed by a very lucky shot from a 1st level character.

Like B/X, the game is incredibly easy to hack. Creating additional Special Abilities or house rules are a snap.

If you like OSR type games, and like the western genre, this is the game for you.

I own A LOT of western rpgs, but this is my go to wild west game. It's simple and fun, but complex enough that you feel that there is substance to it.

Now if only there was a POD version :)

The Phoenix Barony (S&W White Box)
by matthew j. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/07/2017 21:43:08

A nice little setting for Whitebox with plenty of neat ideas, loads of NPCs, and great write ups for numerous locations in the setting. The author provides plenty of places and interesting people for your players to visit and interact with, even provides a handful of evocative pieces of art - all done in a nice old school style. At only $1 this is a complete steal.
