A good mini bestiary of sorts for the Bare Bones fantasy RPG.
It covers 20 species that can be used as playable characters (Dark Elf, Bugbear, etc)
.
It's 56 pages long, but 52 pages are the actual book, so to speak.
Pages 50-52 are the appendix (for the player/for the GM).
Artwork: good.
Dislikes: nothing really.
Yet another good product from DWD Studios.
At £4.63, quite a good buy.

I do like Greywood publishing for their Fighting Fantasy & Sorcery books.
I then decided, after reading the reviews, to give this PDF a look at.
This PDF has both a printer friendly (72 pages) and a colour version (74 pages), although, each has a slightly different table of contents (judging by the numbers).
The artwork isn't too bad.
I've noticed the supplements are between £4-£5 each, which could easily amount to £20+ if I want to buy the others.
One at a time I think.
The system itself seems quite easy to pick up.
Quite good for beginners.
Not a bad system for £3.31.

This ship plan is just great.
The Renegade contains a shuttle and a 4x4 Rover buggy - very nice.
The download contain 3 files: main (16 pages), pages (14 pages), and uncut (1 page).
A great choice of optional layers.
Artwork: Good.
Good data on the G4 Rover and shuttle.
At £3.28 it's well worth the price.
I'll definitely be looking at more of these in the near future.

This PDF is 8 pages (5 are the map pieces), 1 page is the guide/instructions.
It has different types of rooms, doors and corridors - some good map tiles.
The detail is rather good; great for room to room searching.
The map pieces have a variety of colour.
There seems to be quiet a lot of variety contained within the pages.
£3.96 isn't too bad a price for this map set.

The Sci-Fi elements PDF is 6 pages long, with 3 pages being the actual product.
Pages 3, 4 & 5, contain the graphic elements; page 5 (which looks like metal deck plating), could be used for a small battle map, especially if a few pages are printed off.
Pages 3 & 4, look like pieces of metal framing.
Page 1 (the front cover), gives you an idea of how to use the product.
It's not bad, but it's not fantastic; but there could also have been some more included.
It looks like the kind of thing a person with decent graphic software and experience could do themselves.
At £0.64 pence you get what you pay for.

At 50 pages, I found this supplement for Distant Worlds a rather good read.
It's actually 46 pages (2 blank - p2 & p49, then the cover, and the contents table).
Some decent data on The Pathfinders is contained within the pages (history, organisation, gear, spacecraft, etc).
There's even a campaign (4 adventures) included.
Apart from the colour cover, there's also a colour map of the planet Typhon on p32, the rest is black & white.
For a one-man band operation, it's pretty good.
There's plenty of sidebar items as well (damaged spacesuits, adventure types, etc).
And the usual 'phrases' from various sci-fi films.
So far, I've purchased all/most of the Friz Games items (Survivors of the Fire plus the supplements, Distant Worlds, FUGLI rulebook); and I need to read them again to give them a decent review.
Worth it at £1.30.

For £5.26, Shebang is 196 pages, of which 192 are the rules, maps, etc.
There are 2 colour maps included.
The character sheet is one page, but has an ink heavy top part (picture).
Your character starts off with either 40 or 55 points to spend on 5 attributes.
The setting is Mars; where the wealthy/powerful, prey on/use the less fortunate (dog eat dog).
The prices are in dollars. The weapons have restrictions.
The PDF can be ink heavy if printed; it's not as bad as World of Wonder, but it will still consume some ink.
Mechanics: 1D6 modified by the difficulty of the action. Modifiers are applied to the character's chance of success, not the dice roll itself.
It's not bad; so I'll give it 4/5.

Simple, rules lite.
The main rules book has 16 pages, 13 of which are the actual book.
There are no humans in this game; just aliens.
You define your traits (1D6 for each), then define your other traits as specified under the 'other traits' section.
Then choose your species, choose 2 species features.
Lastly, choose your equipment up to a total bonus of +5.
All done.
It also deals with spaceship combat.
The bundle also has a simple character sheet.
Death Has a Price (supplement): A background on being a bounty hunter. 15 pages, of which 10 and a bit is the actual book.
Everything is left up to the player(s): background, etc.
For the price of £0.66p/$1, it's not bad.

After seeing the Colony 19 map bundle deal, I was rather delighted to see the Wilderness map bundle as well.
There are 3 map types: hex grid, square grid or no grid.
The first page does inform the buyer that the maps 'are not intended to be comparable to high resolution dungeon tiles', which is true.
The maps (close up) have a 'water colour' type of look (to me, anyway).
But this doesn't distract from the terrain that is displayed.
You get one display showing the entire map, then that map is cut into 9 sections of a much closer view.
You get 4 wilderness maps (0, 1, 2, & 3), and the Halloween Special, all for £1.89.
£1.89 for this Wilderness map bundle, instead of £3.47: a very good deal indeed.

It's good to see these maps as a bundle.
I was going to buy them maybe 1 or 2 at a time, but at £3.15 for ALL the Colony 19 maps, I just couldn't pass the opportunity to purchase the bundle.
Anyway, the maps are very good resolution (made for 28mm miniatures), with the flooring reminding me of Space Hulk/Aliens.
The Starter map (page 2), shows some printed sections with em4 miniatures to show you.
There are PLENTY of map sections for you to print off, including 2 automated gun turrets (I'll be printing plenty of those).
The turrets are in the Starter set (page 10).
The Room set you can mix with the Starter set and also the Infestation set.
There are plenty of extras in the map sets like canisters/pods, tables, chairs, etc.
I know I'll be buying plenty of ink to print all the map sections and extras off.
For the price (£3.15), you'd be daft not to go for this bundle.

A good introductory scenario for OD&D (Basic).
This does take me back to the old days when I bought the old 'Red Box'.
Some traditional blue maps.
A fairly good scan; gets a little fuzzy past 100%.
A definite purchase since it's free.

Yet another delve into the OSR.
This one is good (and free).
Some of the artwork reminds me of the old Fighting Fantasy & Lone Wolf books.
The currency is silver pieces, not the usual copper, gold, platinum, etc, of other fantasy RPGs.
The download includes 2 character sheets (one fillable, the other ordinary).
Also includes 10 pre-made characters.
This is definitely worth downloading.

Buy it! Read it! Play it!
You'd be a fool not to.
Don't be fooled by the title.
Bare bones, this is not.
A D100 lite system.
Adventure creator, Dungeon creator, monster creator, Magic item creator, what more could you want?
There's a good bestiary included.
The magic system is adaptable.
At £6.26, you get a fantastic fantasy RPG, that you can even play with the kids and beginners, it's that easy.
In the download, you even get printer friendly versions of the files as well (brilliant!).
The website (dwdstudios.com) is well worth a visit (a must-do).
A 'brush stroke' campaign world for you as well.
No need to buy huge amounts of books.
Once again, brilliant.
These are the same people who brought you the Star frontiersman emag.
I am so looking forward to their Frontier Space RPG :-)
Bare Bones is worth every penny.

At 16 pages, 13 1/4 are the adventure.
This appears to be a simple enter the keep, and defeat the undead adventure.
It doesn't appear as well polished as Spindle Wood Marsh, or Gallery of Dreams, but it has some promise.
A puzzling thing: at E18 (prison cell), if the PCs rescue the woman, they will be rewarded, as her family are quite wealthy, but there is no mention of the reward. Rather incomplete.
Conclusion: for free, it's worth getting, but in my opinion, it does need more work; especially at E18 (prison cell).
Download it and fill in the gaps.

An 11 page scenario/adventure, of which 6 is the adventure/scenario.
The pages include how to scale and expand the adventure, there is also one page detailing some unpleasant diseases.
A very informative and enjoyable swampy/marshy adventure.
Yet another excellent Headless Hydra adventure.
Well worth obtaining.
