I had a lot of fun running Shadows over Ekul. From my point of view this is one of the two best Beasts and Barbarians adventures. I ended up running this as part of a Lords of Gossamer game (not Savage Worlds) but it could easily be adapted to any D&D/swords and sorcery game system.

Shadows over Ekul is a wonderful four-chapter adventure that can be run over 2-4 game sessions. It starts with a classic case of mistaken identity (one of the PCs is mistaken for the local Prince), and quickly becomes a job opportunity where the heroes are asked to perform a dangerous mission (and the PC who looks very much like the Prince has to pretend to be the real Prince, and go on a 'diplomatic' mission).

My PC group had a lot of fun impersonating the Prince and his entourage - it allowed for some excellent roleplaying opportunities.

This adventure has it all - role-playing, rivalries, action, plot twists, chases, assaulting a castle, climbing sheer cliffs to sneak into baddies' lair, rescuing a Princess. It has excellent examples as to how to set up an interesting dungeon based on card-draws.

High praise for Shadow over Ekul. I will almost certainly run this adventure again. One of the best.

Another great piece of work from GRAmel.

From my read through this appears to be a longer adventure that is sure to provide a few sessions of fun and excitement. It is well written and laid out. It ofers a lot of opportunities for role-playing as well as combat.

Like most of their work there few maps, but battle locations are well described. In addition they provide suggestions as to various terrain features to make sure that combat is not boring.

Like with all the adventures so far, it contains a Book of Lore on Ekul wich provides more rich detail to this part of the world.

Shadows over Ekul is a good sword and sorcery adventure, with a very epic feel in the last part. I really enjoyed reading it. It has a twist that is often used in book and movies, like in "The Prince and the Pauper".

There are a Jademen monk that is a important NPC that escort them deep into the enemy area. Some players really dislike such NPC's, but Savage Worlds could help the GM against a pet-NPC with giving a player control over him in combat. And he isnt important enough for the story that he couldnt be allowed to die. One of the playercharacters is more important for the story.

There are no maps in the avdenture (except a picture of a village/monastery that could work as map) but the description of the battle areals are good(but wordy).

The apendix book of lore:ekul is very nice, with a lot of cool adventure hints and hooks.

In summary it is a good adventure, if you liked the other B&B adventure your need to buy this, too.
