Templates of Terrors
Publisher: Nitehawk Interactive

Only SIX templates!

Must say I am very disappointed. I assumed that this 138 page PDF would largely be devoted to giving various templates. Unfortunately, this is not true. Only six templates are presented (Animal Companion, Familiar, Fiendish Servant, Psicrystal, Shadow Companion, and Special Mount), the rest of the product is filled with a copy/paste from the SRD of creatures you can apply the templates to (presumably to justify the outrageous price for six templates). Only the first 25 pages of this product are anything that resembles being new. I'm a sucker for monster and templates book, so when I regret a purchase of one, it's a pretty good indication of a product that should largely be avoided.

I think the publisher should edit the descriptive text of this product to more accurately reflect it's contents...this is not a comprehensive template book such as Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary or Silverthorne Games' Book of Templates - Deluxe Edition 3.5.

I apologize that you were disappointed in this book. I have edited the description to show there are only six templates and lowered the price so that others might not be as disappointed as you. I have to say, though, that I never stated this was a comprehensive book, just a book with templates. Hopefully you purchase Tome of Terrors and find that more to your liking. Happy Gaming!
Treasures of NeoExodus Subscription Service
Publisher: LPJ Design

This review is for the subscription service itself, not the actual products. Those I tend to find range in quality from about 3-5 stars.

This subscription has some major problems. Aside from the two "exclusives", I have had to contact DriveThruRPG for every release to have it added to my library. Given that the main reason for the subscription was convenience (the savings was not really that substantial), this to me means that the subscription is really a complete failure. I'm not sure where the fault lies...maybe LPJ isn't properly tagging the. Uploads to be a part of the subscription, maybe DriveThru is just continually dropping the ball on this one. But I'm tired of getting the email telling me that a a new product has been added to my library and then having to contact DriveThru and wait a day or two in order to actually make the product available.

Dungeons Of the Week: The Tower of Terror
Publisher: Art of War Games
by Benjamin B. [Verified Purchaser]

This product is absolutely horrible. First off, the product description and the information in the DriveThruRPG system is just plain wrong. The information in the system lists the product as 4E/GSL, but the cover shows the Pathfinder compatible logo. Neither of these is correct, as it is written for D&D 3.5.

The product claims 60 levels for the tower, but it is actually only 15, with 45 more exact duplicates of each level, with the only change being a decimal place in the level number (ie, level 15, level 15.1, level 15.2, and level 15.3 are all identical). There are 63 PDF files in this package, all rather small. It would have been much more convenient if the publisher had simple created one large PDF file with bookmarks.

The maps themselves are rather obviously created by an online random dungeon generator. As such, they have no semblance of actual design, and the connections between levels do not line up at all.

The writeups of each room also seem to have been randomly generated, and once again this shows as a remarkable failure. Apparently silver and red dragons share the same dungeon level peacefully. There is also not even the remotest inklings of a storyline.

The layout is another failure on the part of this product. I'd imagine that it is unchanged from the random generator, it certainly appears like no attempt was made to improve it. Sometimes the end of a page even slices a line of text in half horizontally. Exceedingly sloppy work on the layout front.

Bottom line: There are far, FAR better products available for this price than Tower of Terror. In fact, I would say there are far, FAR better FREE products out there than this one. I don't know much about Art of War Games, but I do know that I will never consider another one of their products again after taking a chance on this and Lawbrech City (which shares almost all of the same problems).

Very good product, but the color edition has recently been printed, and I'm sure it will come to PDF soon.
