Chain Reaction 3.1 - Final Version

Vunny you schould azk...

I have just finished my second game of Chain Reaction 3.0. this is a good product, in my mind. It can be a lot more lethal then most gamers are acustomed to, but it doesn't have to be.

It is designed for skirmish gaming cops and robbers or military vs military or military vs insurgents patrol engagements. The arsenal runs from the introduction of cased ammo to modern and tomorrow. There are no science fiction or black powder weapons.

There are rules for characters, buildings and vehicles, as well as rules for setting up clear, mountanous and forest terrain. All of the rules are sketchy and simple.

It is intended as an introduction to 2 Hour Wargames. The idea is to get you interested in the Chain Reaction system which eliminates the perfect control other games give players over their forces.

I enjoy it. This is now my standard set of rules. But frankly, I cheated and bought some of the other 2HW products as well. It IS a complete game, but I wanted more.

THRILLING TALES: Rocket Raiders

There isnt very much to this product. It has no specific rules for rocket packs and the story is resolved with a series of chess matches. On the plus side it is playable.

In Harm's Way
Publisher: Better Mousetrap Games
by Bill C. [Verified Purchaser]

There is a story about a cowboy who always lost his months pay in a crooked poker game. He knew it was crooked, but it was the only game in town. Nautical RPGers are in the same (uhh) boat as that cowboy. Right now, In Harms Way (IHW) is the only game in town.

LIKED: Wealth system, promotion and notice system

DISLIKED: Too much fluff. Color graphics have to be printed in color, BW prinitng is not an option, so this product is far too expensive to print.

QUALITY: Disappointing

VALUE: Disappointed

Sorry that you disliked the game, Mr. Crum. I do my best, but one can't please everyone. The issue you have with not being able to print in greyscale is a problem - I certainly never intended it - but it seems to be isolated to particular printers. After I read your comment, I tested the file on a dozen different printers, both laser and ink jet, color and black and white, and only found a problem with a Compaq inkjet driver. The file was generated with the standard default Adobe Acrobat settings for web-based pdfs. I have no idea why this problem is occuring, but I offer you your money back for your trouble, and extend this offer to anyone else having these printing problems. -clash bowley

This is what a WW2 RPG looks like, this is what a ground military RPG from any era looks like.

LIKED: The enclosed missions and encounter tables.

DISLIKED: The classic Traveller based RPG rules are dated, still fun, but RPG games have improved since then.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied

Luftwaffe 1946 Role Playing Game Open Core Edition
Publisher: Battlefield Press
by Bill C. [Verified Purchaser]

Not what it could be, more specifically, not much about the Luftwaffe, or the Comic book world Luftwaffe 1946.

LIKED: Great dogfight rules. Also includes two RPG systems allows me to pick and choose my own system from the formalised Core and freestyle Fudge rules systems

DISLIKED: Great Wildwest rules and two RPG systems means it covers the same subjects twice.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Disappointed
