Pirates like gold.

Dragons like gold.

When the terrors of the sea meet the terrors of the sky, there’s bound to be trouble!

They came from Albion, from Gaule and Esbania and Batavia, in search of the treasures of the New World. They found a menace older than mankind – dragons!

In their mountain lairs on the Dragon Isles, giant beasts – old and wise and malevolent – sit on their piles of gold, surrounded by their zombie minions. The natives have found ways of appeasing or evading them – the Dragon Tribes honour them with gold and human sacrifice, the other Islanders use their magic to hide away or resist. The Uropans must rely on gunpowder and cold steel.

And the pirates? The pirates will use whatever comes to hand in their battle with the dragons. Armed with science, sorcery, steel and superstition, they take the fight into the dragons’ lairs in their endless quest for gold.

Pirates & Dragons is a role-playing game of fantasy swashbuckling in a world of magic and treasure, of fantastical islands inhabited by strange beasts and vile necromancers, of treachery and heroism. Together with a group of friends, you take on the role of pirates, out for adventure and booty – raiding the treasure galleons of Esbania, the merchant fleets of Gaule and Batavia, the dragon-hunting ships of Albion, the ruins of lost Adalantas... and the gold-filled caves of ancient and evil dragons.

Gather your crew. Load your flintlocks. And prepare to plunder!

Pirates & Dragons features cinematic game mechanics based on the acclaimed Renaissance D100 system and is compatible with other D100 systems.

Look out for the standard paperback and hardback coming soon.

Also available now, the PDF Dragon Isles Poster Map – massive map which is a must for any budding buccaneer. Only $1.99!

Plus, coming soon – Curious Creatures of the Dragon Isles, Gazetteer #1: Tales of Tortuga and Ships of the Dragon Isles.

I have hardcovers of both this book and the bestiary.

Where can I find PDFs of the Character Sheet and Ship Sheet?

I recently got to post a review of this product on my blog which originally appeared with Knights of the Dinner Table http://withinthedungeon.blogspot.com/2017/07/rpg-review-pirates-dragons.html

I'm really a huge fan of the setting info/presentation of this book, it's really the sort of thing you want read if you're short on ideas. I haven't had the pleasure of unleashing it as an alternate game yet... but, it's on the list.

Whewww, the price point for the print books is a no sell for me, think I will wait and see if this goes down a bit, would like premium but not at $90 bucks.

Just curious. What's the difference between the color hardcover premium edition and the color hardcover standard edition?

The paper is thicker and more luxurious, and the colours are more vivid.

We discovered that the book was printing fine in the USA, but with errors in the UK, so we've had to take it down while the printers figure out what the problem is. Unfortunately, DriveThru's system won't let us sell just from the US. It'll be up again as soon as the problem's fixed, but we don't currently have an ETA for that, as everyone currently seems a bit mystified. :-(

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
