A very solid adventure overall, with some points for improvements. The spoiler-free TL;DR is: Get it, play it, hope that they finally release some more material in the future.
Now for some complaints I have. I'll try to keep them as spoiler-free as possible but if you want to experience the adventure without any information about what's to come then it's best to stop reading here.
- The character creation and the start: The adventure is supposed to be played with a brandnew Novice hero, created and equipped using the Deadlands setting rules. There's multiple times when various edges, hindrances and items a character might posses come up, which is a very nice touch. However, nothing in the book anywhere seems to even consider that the character might own a horse. This seems like a big oversight, since it's a very common thing for deadlands characters to have. It would have been good to mention this in the beginning, so that players spend their starting money for other gear.
- The first chapter is by far the best part of the book. You can explore a big area, get options to recover, interact with various NPCs and get multiple options to tackle the tasks you are given.
- The second chapter is more of a chase sequence and bossfight. A good opportunity to learn the chase rules but overall a letdown when compared to chapter one.
- The third and final chapter gives you more freedom again, though not as much as the first one. While Giving you an area to explore again, there's multiple tasks that you have to overcome in order to finish it and very few options on how to get them done. The final fight here can potentially end very badly, very fast. This is exciting but I also think it could be very frustrating to get so far, only to die because of and unlucky die roll.
Now keep in mind, those are all the negative things I have to say about the adventure. Everything else is very well made and I had a lot of fun playing it. I would absolutely recommend it.
